WR914: VVonder (with guest host Stiff Wiggle)

On this episode, the guest host spot is taken over by the illustrious Stiff Wiggle -- synthesizer enthusiast, art rock experimentalist, and now podcaster!Stiff sat down with two members of pop-indebted rock n' roll outfit VVonder, to talk about their unique sound, upcoming music, weird experiences at local record stores, and much more!
(Speaking of weirdness: for some reason five minutes of the conversation near the end did not want to cooperate with me, so I had to edit around it, but I may update the audio file later on to include it. Thanks.)
Huge shoutout to S. Wiggle for the hosting assist. Stiff -- a past interviewee on this very show -- did the team proud in this interview.

WR912: John Paul Peters (with guest host Greg Soden)

The USA’s number one Winnipeg-music-appreciator, Greg Soden (of Unscripted Moments: A Podcast About Propagandhi), is back in the guest-host chair after a successful appearance on episode #910!
On this episode, he sat down with acclaimed local producer/musician/engineer/multi-hyphenate John Paul Peters. Tune in for a chat about JP's extensive career at Private Ear Recording, his early musical experiences in bands like The Undecided and Officer Down, and much more!
Big shoutout to Greg for helping out with some episodes. I'm still going to be hosting the majority of 'em, but you'll hear a few more guest-hosted interviews throughout the summer (from Greg and others).

    WR911: The Secret Beach

    WR911: The Secret Beach

I caught up with songwriter/producer Micah Erenberg to talk about his upcoming record as The Secret Beach, “We Were Born Here, What’s Your Excuse?”, and about fully embracing the Manitoba-ness of it all.We also got into the differences between the records as The Secret Beach and the early LPs under his own name, recording — music by himself and others — at the eponymous studio, Bob Dylan’s ‘Planet Waves’, and much more.
Want to hear more Micah? Check out his appearance on episode #195, recorded live at the Shine On Festival (Aug. 2016), episode #499 (July 2020), and in a 2018 throwback Mom's House appearance on episode #886 (April 2024).

WR910: Dylan James (with guest host Greg Soden)

…so, uh… what’s happening here? It’s an episode GUEST-HOSTED by the USA’s number one Winnipeg-music-appreciator, Greg Soden (of Unscripted Moments: A Podcast About Propagandhi), and featuring local punk Dylan James of Clipwing and Storyteller! The sheer quantity of episodes I produce for this show is getting a little overwhelming, so to avoid burnout (because I still love doing it), I’ll occasionally be running episodes guest-hosted by pals who know their way around a microphone here and there throughout the summer (and beyond…?)The vast majority of the episodes will still be hosted by me, but I’m going to sprinkle in some guest hosts as well.

Big Guy Bri ,

Great Music Journalism

Sam have a true love of music. His interview are insightful and bring out the best answers and responses from his guests. He’s not just reading the artist bio back to the artist, he’s genuinely interested in the music. Very few real music journalists left…Sam is one of them thankfully.

Midnight Review Presents ,

A glimpse into the Winnipeg music scene...

Hard focus on the bands and musicians that make up the Winnipeg music scene.

Also, Sam is one of the few people left in this world, that is genuinely interested in your physical album.
