S04 E010: Bruxy Cavey on the End of Religion and Why we Need More Female Communicators

Bruxy Cavey is teacher and pastor who’s drawn 1000’s to an irreligious message of Jesus. Yet he’s not a typical “A type” senior leader we often see in churches. He is firmly about peacemaking and pacifism, soft spoken, introverted, and is known to wear a Blackberry phone on his hip when he preaches. We discuss his approach to communication- right down to the clothes he wears- and he speaks about his work to uplift and activate the voices of women as communicators of Good News in our times. A wise and thoughtful conversation recorded in person just before the pandemic shut down in March, lean in and consider the perspectives of Pastor Brux.

S04 E07: Mark Clark on the Art of Reaching and Leveraging your Weaknesses

S04 E07: Mark Clark on the Art of Reaching and Leveraging your Weaknesses

We sat down with Pastor/Author/Apologist Mark Clark in early March (right before the global pandemic shut down) to talk about why his church has grown so fast, how to communicate in a way that reaches a post-Christian audience, the leveraging of digital platforms in church (before a forced shut down) and so much more. This conversation is more banter than a traditional interview, and we think you’ll love the energy and insights of this week’s episode!

S04 E06: Sheila Walsh on How to Pray in a Noisy World

S04 E06: Sheila Walsh on How to Pray in a Noisy World

Sheila Walks is an author, tv host, and communicator with a glorious Scottish accent and on this episode we’re talking about how to pray, because it’s so hard for so many of us in this distracted world. She has spoken around the world to over 6 million people, reaches 100 million daily as co-host of the Life Today television program, and her books have sold over 5 million copies… but yet she still struggles just like we all do with this critical form of communication: Prayer. This conversation addresses prayer in a pandemic, prayer when you’re exhausted, prayer when you’re afraid or guilty… it’s a great inspiration to become better communicators where it matters most: between us and God.

S04 E05: Gabriel Finochio on Theos U and the Future of Online Learning

S04 E05: Gabriel Finochio on Theos U and the Future of Online Learning

Gabriel and Nathan Finochio launched Theos U as a sort of “Netflix of theological courses”. Courses that you might take at a seminary or college, distilled down into about 8 hours of video content and training on various issues, including “Defence Against the Dark Arts”, which is a great Harry Potter reference. Why? Because they want to make this kind of learning accessible in the digital age to all Christians. A democratization of biblical literacy. In this episode, Gabe and I talk about what the church can do about discipleship and teaching people to understand the Bible; that they may experience God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Even on the internet.
