Hope in the Hard - A Story of Surrender and the Presence of God :: Sarah Waller's Story [Episode 368]

As we journey toward Heaven, God, in His kindness, continually reveals who He is and invites us to experience His presence more intimately. Today's storyteller, Sarah Waller from our Homewood, Alabama community, reminds us that in life's hardest moments, surrendering to God opens our eyes to His faithful nearness.   Sarah shares how the Lord gently revealed His Kingship to her in her twenties and the sustaining power of the Holy Spirit in her thirties—showing up in both the big moments and the quiet, everyday ones. These revelations, however, were forged through deep suffering: first, the loss of her mother to cancer, and later, the trial of undergoing an intense brain surgery.   Through every loss and uncertainty, God tenderly called Sarah to rest in this truth—that she is a daughter of the King, fully seen, deeply known, and unconditionally loved.   VERSE OF THE WEEK: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33   CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: What is God teaching you in this season of your life? Reflect on how He is showing you His faithfulness. _______________________________________________________________   Listen to a similar story: Ep. 254- Toma Knight: "Living in Light of Eternity"   Download a phone background of the weekly verse HERE!    Give to StoryTellers Live in honor of Sarah and any of our past storytellers!   Join us "In the Room" on Patreon to access new stories straight from our live gatherings around the country!   Register here for our Finding God in the Details workshop being offered online on April 21st.   Shop for our When God Shows Up Bible Study series~ Stories of Hope, Stories of Freedom, Stories of Faith Are you interested in one-on-one coaching with our very own Robyn Kown!?  Click HERE!   Check out all of our live speaking engagement opportunities on our website. Praying When God Feels Silent - A Mother's Story of Trust: Leslie Hedge :: [Episode 367]

Watching your child struggle—whether with friendships, health, or their faith—is a journey no parent is ever prepared for. In today's episode, our storyteller reminds us what it looks like to keep praying, even when God feels silent.   Leslie Hedge, who shared her story with our community group in Fairhope, Alabama, watched her son struggle socially through his adolescent years. Her heart broke when he eventually walked away from his faith and declared himself an atheist. That heartbreak turned into fear and panic when an unexpected health crisis suddenly put his life at risk. Yet, as Leslie witnessed God working in miraculous, behind-the-scenes ways to save her son's life, her hope was renewed. She became confident that the same God who preserved his life would one day restore his heart. Listen in as Leslie shares the powerful ways God brought healing, redemption, and hope back into her son's story.   VERSE OF THE WEEK: "Now to him who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." Ephesians 3:20   CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: Is there an area of your life where you feel God is silent in your prayers? Be encouraged and find rest in knowing God sees you, hears you, knows you, and cares for you!   _____________________________________________________________   Listen to a similar story: Ep. 198- Zoe Tenner: "Letting Go of Control:: A Mother/Daughter Story."   Download a phone background of the weekly verse HERE!   Give to StoryTellers Live in honor of Leslie and any of our past storytellers!   Join us "In the Room" on Patreon to access new stories straight from our live gatherings around the country! Sign up to receive StoryTellers Live's weekly newsletter for updates and details on our live gatherings.

God's Kindness in Unexpected Motherhood:: Lauren Kelly's Story :: [Episode366]

When life doesn't unfold the way we expected, it can cause us to question God's love and His kindness. In seasons of sadness and disappointment, today's podcast reminds us that the Lord is still at work—bringing good on our behalf and glory to His name.   In this episode, Lauren Kelly, who shared at our Vestavia, Alabama live gathering, vulnerably tells the story of an unexpected journey. From being a single young adult to becoming the wife of a widower and the mother of three children, Lauren faced the challenges of stepping into grief, loss, and the feeling of living life in a fishbowl. Along the way, she also experienced the heartbreak of two miscarriages.   Through it all, Lauren has seen how God brings beauty from hard places. Her story reminds us that while we aren't promised an easy life, we are promised a God who is our comfort, strength, and ever-present help.   VERSE OF THE WEEK: "Not one of all the LORD's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled." Joshua 21:45   CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: Where are you letting your eyes focus on your feelings and expectations rather than on the goodness and kindness of God? If you've ever cared for someone with Alzheimer's—or loved someone who has—you know the quiet heartbreak of watching a person you cherish slowly fade, even while they are still physically present. It's a journey marked by grief, exhaustion, and a longing for strength that often feels just out of reach.   In today's episode, storyteller Jennifer Roberts from our West Cobb community outside of Atlanta, Georgia, shares her experience of walking alongside her father-in-law as her mother-in-law battled Alzheimer's.
