Ask Yourself, Is Your Income Truly Halal? || Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan #AMAR

In this lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan begins by laying down a foundational principle: Islam was revealed to secure human welfare, benefit in both dunyā and ākhirah; by bringing and completing benefits (maṣāliḥ) and removing or reducing harms (mafāsid), while also lifting hardship from people. Because Allah created humanity and legislated the religion, the rulings are inherently compatible with what truly benefits us. From there, Ustadh mentions that buying and selling (muʿāmalāt) is not a side topic in Islam; it’s part of the religion just like ṣalāh and ṣawm. Therefore, anyone engaging in transactions whether running a business or simply purchasing daily items needs at least a basic level of knowledge of what is ḥalāl and ḥarām, especially regarding ribā, because ignorance in trade is often negligence, not a valid excuse. Ustadh supports this with narrations and statements: A warning that many traders will be resurrected as sinners except those who have taqwā, uprightness, and truthfulness. The idea that honesty and clarity in transactions bring barakah, while lying and concealing defects removes barakah. Reports that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb would not allow people to sell in the marketplace unless they had fiqh knowledge of trade. Statements from scholars like Imām al-Nawawī stressing that whoever wants to trade must learn its conditions and distinguish valid contracts from invalid ones. Finally, he emphasizes a practical solution: if someone can’t study deeply, they should consult scholars or place qualified Sharīʿah oversight (raqabah/sharīʿah board) over contracts because the goal is to ensure one’s income is pure, avoid feeding one’s family ḥarām, and prevent harm from spreading into the community. Hours Before Badr: Final Preparations Before The Clash | Seerah Ep #76 | Ust. Abdulrahman Hassan

War was never the plan. So how did the situation change so quickly? The Muslims left Madinah intending to intercept a caravan. But once the caravan escaped, new information reached both sides, and the direction of events shifted. In episode 76 of the Seerah, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan explains how matters developed as Quraysh continued advancing toward Badr. Their numbers, leadership, and intentions become clear, as does why some tribes chose to turn back while others pressed on. The episode also follows the decisions made by the Prophet ﷺ as the reality of a battle became unavoidable. Consultation takes place, different opinions are voiced, and firm commitments are given by the companions, especially as responsibility settles on those who would bear the greatest cost. You’ll learn how the Muslims prepared on the ground, how information was gathered, how positions were chosen near the wells of Badr, and how Allah supported them through the night with calm, rest, and stability. The Prophet ﷺ spends the night in duʿa, while the army prepares for what lies ahead. The battle has not begun yet. But everything needed for it is now in place. Feeling ‘Safe’ From Allah is a Dangerous Sin? | Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan #AMAU

Feeling at ease. Still sinning. Still telling yourself, Allah is Forgiving. But what if that calm is exactly the danger? In this powerful reminder, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan uncovers why the Quran warns against feeling safe from Allah’s plan, and why delay, comfort, and “I’ll repent later” have destroyed people before. Why were the Salaf afraid when doors of Dunya opened? When does ease stop being mercy? And why does punishment often come when people feel least threatened? A sobering wake-up for anyone relying on time instead of repentance.
