Schon früh wurde sein musikalisches Talent und sein präzises Gehör entdeckt. Nach Lehrjahren traf er schließlich auf den Texter Bernie Taupin – eine entscheidende Wende in seinem Leben. Das zweite Album brachte den Durchbruch, der Star Elton John war geboren. In wenigen Jahren folgten Alben, große Tourneen und zahlreiche Hits.
