Bürger müssen Opfer bringen | Von Paul Clemente

Ein Kommentar von Paul Clemente. Bekannt wurde er nach der Wende. Durch eine Behörde, die seinen Namen trug: Joachim Gauck. In der DDR galt der lutheranische Pastor als Bürgerrechtler. Und besagte Behörde stand für Aufarbeitung. Ihre Freigabe von Stasi-Akten ließ zahlreiche Lebenslügen explodieren: Dein Nachbar, dein Sohn, deine Freundin, deine Kollegin: Sie alle haben Dich verpetzt. Vor allem zeigten die Akten: Wie leicht totalitäre Regime die schlimmsten Anlagen im Menschen aktivieren. Umso größer die Enttäuschung, als der Aufklärer Gauck das Amt des Bundespräsidenten übernahm. Denn allzu schnell zeigte sich: Dieser Mann war kein Demokrat. Seine Gemeinsamkeit mit autoritären Regimen: Die Überheblichkeit gegenüber den Bürgern, den Massen. Denen traut man nichts zu. Sie nötigen die Machthaber zu einer starken Führung, zu einem Durchgreifen ohne Zögern. Ein frühes Highlight lieferte Gauck vor zehn Jahren, 2016. Zur Erinnerung: Großbritannien vollzog den Brexit. Außerdem drohte die Unterzeichnung des Freihandelsvertrags mit den USA. Sein Kürzel TTIP. Der drohte mit Aushebelung europäischer Standards im Bereich Arbeitsrecht und Umweltschutz. Manche Politiker und Publizisten hinterfragten die EU, diskutierten Alternativen. Inmitten dieser Krisensituation stellte Bundespräsident Joachim Gauck im ARD-Hauptstadtstudio klar: „Die Eliten sind gar nicht das Problem, die Bevölkerungen sind im Moment das Problem.“Sollte wohl heißen: Die doofen Bürger erfassen nicht die Weisheit der Machthaber. Da war es nur konsequent, dass Gauck während der Lockdown-Ära die Impfgegner als „Bekloppte“ titulierte. Trotzdem hat der Ex-Bundespräsident seine Bürger nicht aufgegeben. Auch nicht die blöden. Und die Mainstream-Medien fragen ihn regelmäßig um Rat. Egal, ob zur Aufrüstung oder zur Wirtschaftskrise. Und Gauck liefert wie gewünscht: Er rechtfertigt die Vorhaben der Regierung und fordert eine bessere Vermittlung. Damit die Bevölkerung die Großartigkeit der Machthaber begreift. The Daily Blast: Trump Reflecting Pool Arrests Take Unnerving Turn—and Officials Go Mum

Donald Trump has insisted six people have been arrested and many more have been given citations for vandalizing the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. This allegedly includes carving a 350-foot gash in the pool’s sealant, and in a dark and angry tirade, Trump just described these people as akin to enemies of the state. But The New York Times just obtained a new statement from federal prosecutors. While they confirmed some citations, the Times also reports that administration officials and prosecutors are refusing to provide a single detail about what happened, refusing to divulge anything about who’s been targeted or what their offenses were, and refusing to confirm any arrests of any kind. As former prosecutor Ankush Khardori tells us in today’s episode, this is deeply strange. We discuss why it’s unusual for officials to clam up about such a high-profile claim, how this raises unnerving possibilities about the unhinged despot in the Oval Office, and why it all points to a deeper rot of Trumpian corruption.
