Don't Miss The Conversation

Samantha Propper

Every meaningful change begins with a conversation. The ones that challenge what you believe. The ones that make you question your next step. The ones that happen quietly, long before anyone else sees the outcome. Don't Miss the Conversation is a podcast for people building meaningful careers, navigating change, and pursuing work that matters. Hosted by healthcare educator, entrepreneur, and author Samantha, each episode explores the conversations that shape our decisions, our leadership, and ultimately who we become. Through honest discussions with healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, creators, and changemakers, the show goes beyond polished success stories to uncover the uncertainty, pivots, failures, resilience, and defining moments that rarely make it into the highlight reel. Whether the conversation centers on healthcare, business, leadership, personal growth, or innovation, every episode is grounded in one belief: the conversations we choose to have can change the trajectory of our careers, our relationships, and our lives. If you've ever questioned your path, wondered what comes next, or needed a reminder that growth isn't always linear, you're in the right place. Because the conversations that shape your future are already happening. Don't miss them.

    8. Interventional Radiology: How to Learn IR Without Drowning

Interventional radiology can feel overwhelming when you’re first stepping into the IR lab. Between unfamiliar equipment, dozens of procedures, sterile technique, and multiple organ systems, where do you even begin? In this episode of Don’t Miss the Conversation, Sam sits down with Annie, founder of In The Loop, a radiologic technologist with her vascular interventional credential through ARRT, educator, and incoming president of the Association of Vascular Interventional Radiographers. After nearly 20 years in the field, Annie helped build a hospital-based IR training program designed to address staffing challenges, preceptor burnout, and the need for more structured education. Sam and Annie discuss how IR should actually be taught, where cath lab professionals and radiologic technologists should begin when cross-training, why equipment and foundational concepts matter more than memorizing procedures, and how critical thinking helps new team members build confidence. Annie also shares how years of teaching inspired her to create her first visual textbook Simply IR: Non-Vascular - designed to make interventional radiology more approachable for technologists, nurses, students, and others entering the field. Whether you’re considering IR, cross-training from the Cath Lab, or already working in procedural medicine, this conversation is a reminder that you don’t have to know everything on day one. You just need the right foundation. If you enjoyed this episode, subscribe for more conversations where medicine, education, leadership, business, and personal growth collide.
