    Basements, Battlefields, And Adepticon Aftermath

This episode opens with a flooded basement after a sump pump failure during a Wisconsin storm, turning a stressful situation into a moment of pride as his kids jump in to help and reinforcing that real life comes first. From there, Tony and Angus catch up and recap AdeptiCon from their own perspectives, noting a hiccup but overall highlighting the positive experience of meeting people and engaging with the community. Their doubles event showcases how years of playing together allowed them to move quickly and efficiently without much discussion, creating plenty of memorable moments even in tough matchups. They also touch on gameplay elements like terrain, chess clocks, and preferred point sizes, landing on 50 and 75 points as their sweet spot, while Tony’s chaotic but exciting narrative event experience offers a contrast to competitive play. The Adepticon keynote adds some hype with upcoming models and system updates, and the conversation shifts into hobby progress, new armies, and future plans. The episode wraps with a strong focus on community building, sharing tools to help players connect, stories of meeting listeners, and ideas for expanding into streaming and more content, all reinforcing that it’s not just about the game, but the people behind it. Live At AdeptiCon Sunday

We recorded live from the wild, noisy(not so much after editing), and absolutely electric floors of AdeptiCon in Milwaukee, this episode drops you right into the middle of the action. Chris and I are boots-on-the-ground, soaking in everything the convention has to offer, from brutal doubles matches and brain-melting game marathons to unforgettable moments that only live events can deliver. The doubles tournament brought exactly what you’d expect: unfamiliar matchups, unpredictable chaos, and a whole lot of learning. Infernals remain a mystery to us, mechanical dwarves made their presence known, and Orgoth Butcher proved once again that sometimes a model just refuses to stop killing. Even with a few bracket shakeups and last-minute re-pairings, the games delivered big moments, not to mention a legendary underdog play where Riggles, AKA "Rattles", stepped up and threw down massive damage on a Wyvern, instantly earning battlefield glory and a promotion to Sergeant. Beyond the games, the AdeptiCon experience itself takes center stage. We dive into what makes events like this special, like meeting listeners, connecting with the community, and seeing the people behind the game fully immersed alongside the players. Steamforged Games gets major praise for being present, engaged, and genuinely part of the hobby, not just observers from afar. There’s also no shortage of hobby hype. From jumping into new armies with unbeatable convention deals to late-night painting sessions just to get models table-ready, the energy never slows down. I share my experience in a massive narrative event spanning multiple tables, complete with portals, split forces, and full-on strategic chaos that pushed my brain to the limit. As the episode rolls on, it becomes clear that this is more than just games, it’s about the community. Whether it’s meeting listeners face-to-face, getting called out for matches, or welcoming new and returning players into the fold, the passion for growing the scene is front and center. That theme continues with a guest interview highlighting a thriving local meta, the evolution of the Warmachine community, and why players are coming back stronger than ever in the current edition. By the end, one thing is certain: AdeptiCon isn’t just an event, it’s an experience. Equal parts exhausting and inspiring, it’s a reminder of why putting models on the table, rolling dice, and connecting with others is what this hobby is all about. Did I mention somewhere in all that chaos, Riggles became a legend. Crunch Time And Soul Contracts

In this episode, we gear up for AdeptiCon with a mix of excitement, chaos, and last-minute prep. From hobby crunch time and painting marathons to list building and theorycrafting, there’s a lot on the table, quite literally. Along the way there are questionable decisions made (or arguably the best ones), as new armies are dropped like Storm of the North and Kithguard enter the mix with changes to the lists, bringing both hype and a healthy dose of uncertainty. The conversation dives deep into the Infernals, breaking down their lore, their place in the greater Warmachine universe, and how they function on the tabletop. From extra-dimensional soul-harvesting entities to the mechanics of summoning and resource management, the discussion explores what makes them unique, intimidating, and just a little tricky to master. There’s also plenty of back-and-forth on list building, including what works, what doesn’t, and what might just flip the table if it shows up across from you. Beyond the theory, the episode keeps things grounded in real gameplay experiences like hard lessons from recent matches, the challenges of facing unfamiliar armies, and the ongoing process of learning a constantly evolving game. As AdeptiCon looms, the team talks expectations, team pairings, and the ever-present goal of getting games in while still finding time to explore everything the event has to offer. As always, it’s not just about tactics, it’s about the community, the shared stories, and the passion that keeps everyone coming back to the table. Close Calls & Chaos: Grymkin Schemes And Tag-Team Dreams

We're back with another deep dive into Warmachine, where the dice were questionable, the plays were clutch, and the teamwork paid off. Tony and Angus break down a hard-fought tag-team victory against Paul and Chris, running their AdeptiCon prep lists and testing out key tweaks. From clutch positioning and lane-clearing plays to standout performances from models like the Vorogger and Winter Guard, the game came down to coordination and capitalizing on openings. Even with some brutal dice luck on both sides, the duo managed to swing the mid-board brawl and secure the win and proving that smart plays can overcome bad rolls. The conversation then shifts into AdeptiCon prep, list adjustments, and whether certain models (looking at you, Mailis and Craghorn) are worth the slot. From fury management mistakes to control vs aggression debates, there’s plenty of tactical reflection as the team gears up for one last practice game. Finally, the crew dives into Grymkin lore and theorycrafting, uncovering surprising origins, discussing caster options like The Dreamer, The Child, and The Heretic, and brainstorming everything from competitive builds to completely unhinged ideas like including the infamous “eight incorporeal crabbit” list. It’s a mix of battle recap, strategy talk, and wild list-building energy. All while keeping the focus on what matters most: the community, the laughs, and the game beyond the dice. Road To Adepticon

In this episode, we switch things up a bit! Angus joins remotely as the team experiments with a new recording setup, Chris is out for the night, and returning guest Jon jumps back in to talk Warmachine, recent games, and the road to Adepticon. We kick things off with a look back at a recent practice match where Tony and Jon teamed up for a 50-point practice Adepticon duos battle. What followed was a tough learning experience against some skilled opponents from Franklin. From rough seas shutting down ranged attacks to a battlefield full of stacked buffs, the we see the break down what went wrong, what went right, and the lessons learned along the way. We also recap our Sunday gaming session where Tony and Angus teamed up against Jon and Paul in another team battle scenario. There were big plays, unexpected survivability, a heroic war dog holding down a hill, and a few tactical mistakes that kept things interesting right up to the end. Along the way the discussion covers list building, faction synergy, model performance, and how different strategies played out on the table. We also talk about upcoming plans for Adepticon, the Content Creator meetup, trying out new games like Trench Crusade, and what we’re most excited to see at the convention. Whether you’re prepping for your next tournament, learning a new army, or just enjoying the hobby side of War Machine, this episode is full of insights, laughs, and plenty of tabletop storytelling.
