Dele Alli scored a stunning overhead kick as Tottenham beat Wolfsberger 4-0 to cruise into the Europa League last 16 with an 8-1 aggregate victory.

Alli marked his return to the Spurs starting line-up with a sensational bicycle kick inside 10 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and sealed a man-of-the-match performance with second-half assists for Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale.

With Spurs' 4-1 first-leg lead extended to an even more handsome advantage, Jose Mourinho took the opportunity to blood some youngsters, with 16-year-old Dane Scarlett registering his first senior assist for the club as Vinicius doubled his tally late on.

The victory provided Spurs with some much-needed respite from their stuttering domestic campaign and sees them become the first British side to qualify for the last 16 ahead of Friday's draw.

Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard fired West Ham into the top four as the Hammers withstood a late Tottenham fightback to hang on for a 2-1 derby victory at the London Stadium.

West Ham were ahead inside five minutes thanks to the returning Antonio's fifth goal against Spurs, before loanee Lingard continued his fine form with the Hammers' second early in the second half.

It was the first time a Jose Mourinho side had conceded in the opening five minutes of both halves in a Premier League game and there was no way back for Spurs, as the frame of the West Ham goal thwarted a valiant late rally.

Lucas Moura headed in from a corner to give Spurs a lifeline before substitute Gareth Bale's stunning volley cannoned off the bar and Heung-Min Son's late effort deflected off the post as David Moyes secured his first victory against Mourinho in the Premier League at the 16th attempt.

The victory sees momentum continue to build behind West Ham's European charge, with the Hammers moving into fourth, nine points ahead of rivals Spurs, who stay ninth after losing five of their last six Premier League games.

Tottenham took a giant stride towards booking their place in the Europa League last 16 as Gareth Bale scored during a resounding 4-1 win over Wolfsberger in Budapest.

The last-32 first-leg tie was moved from Austria to Hungary's Puskas Arena due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Heung-Min Son gave Tottenham a 13th-minute lead when he headed in Bale's cross.

Bale's brilliant finish made it 2-0 before the half-hour before Lucas Moura's solo effort extended Spurs' advantage (34).

Michael Liendl gave Wolfsberger hope early in the second half as he scored from the penalty spot after Moussa Sissoko needlessly clattered into Christopher Wernitznig (55).

But a late finish from Carlos Vinicius ensured Tottenham take a three-goal cushion back to London ahead of the second leg next Wednesday.

Ilkay Gundogan's scoring run continued with two goals in Manchester City's 3-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, as Pep Guardiola's side pulled seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

With City already leading through a first-half Rodri penalty, Gundogan fired his first through Hugo Lloris - who had a game to forget - and then outmuscled Davinson Sanchez for a long pass forward from Ederson before tucking in number two to take his tally to nine goals in nine Premier League games in 2021.

Worryingly, Gundogan limped off with a groin problem soon after, but by then he had already put City in complete control against a poor Spurs side who only really threatened when Harry Kane hit the woodwork with an early free-kick and Gareth Bale tested Ederson late on.

City, who are unbeaten since losing to Spurs in November, extended their record run to 16 wins in a row across all competitions, while Jose Mourinho's men remain eighth, four points off the top four.

Everton reached the FA Cup quarter-finals after edging out Tottenham Hotspur in a nine-goal classic at Goodison Park.

A magnificent contest swung in both teams' favour before Carlo Ancelotti's hosts - showing huge reserves of resolve and fitness - finally struck the decisive blow when Bernard fired home in the seventh minute of extra time.

Spurs dominated the early exchanges and were rewarded when Davinson Sanchez headed in from a corner in the third minute before Everton sprang to life with a three-goal burst inside eight minutes before half-time.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who later went off with what looked like a groin injury, levelled nine minutes before the break with a shot Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris should have saved, before Richarlison's fine low drive and Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty looked to have put Everton in command.

But Erik Lamela scored in the closing seconds of the first half to put Spurs back in contention and Sanchez pounced again after more chaos at a corner to drag Jose Mourinho's side level just before the hour.

Mourinho then introduced Harry Kane but it was Everton who edged ahead again as more brilliant individual work by Richarlison restored their advantage after 68 minutes - but it was inevitable Spurs' main man would have a say.

It came with seven minutes of normal time left as Everton were undone by the old firm, Son Heung-min's cross the perfect invitation for Kane to score with a far-post header.

All the momentum appeared to be with Spurs but Everton are now a side to be reckoned with under Ancelotti and Bernard cashed in after more good work by Sigurdsson - who was involved in three goals - to beat Lloris with an angled finish.

There was still time for Spurs to respond but Everton saw out an outstanding victory in relative comfort.

Heung-Min Son and the returning Harry Kane scored as Tottenham ended a run of three Premier League defeats with a 2-0 win against West Brom.

Kane had missed the last two games through injury - in which Spurs failed to find the net - but returned ahead of schedule on Sunday. The striker had three huge chances in the first half, eventually sweeping home nine minutes after the break to see Tottenham ahead.

It took just four minutes for Son (58) to add the second after a speedy Spurs counter-attack - his first goal in six games - ending Tottenham's losing streak and sending them back up into seventh in the Premier League table.

West Brom defended resolutely in the first half but ultimately could not keep out the Kane-Son sucker punch. January loan signing Mbaye Diagne went close at the end of the first half and twice had the ball in the net later on, but was offside on both occasions. The Baggies remain in 19th, 11 points from safety.
