    UK far-right rally: AI images, old footage exaggerate 'Unite the Kingdom' turnout

    Waving Union Jacks, tens of thousands of supporters of far-right activist Tommy Robinson descended on London's streets last Saturday for a rally known as "Unite the Kingdom". Addressing the crowd, Robinson said "we are here in our millions", and his supporters followed suit online, sharing images of enormous rallies. In reality, London's Metropolitan Police believe 60,000 demonstrators attended, and several of the viral images online are either AI-generated or using old footage.

    A new report by the New York Times claims Israel built a second secret military base in Iraq’s western desert to support its strikes on Iran, and that the United States had knowledge of it. Citing an Iraqi official and lawmaker, the NYT reported that the presence of these bases may have led to the death of the Bedouin shepherd who first sounded the alarm.

The fake cover builds on claims from a new book by a French journalist, who alleges the pair had a "platonic" relationship, of which text messages prompted the now infamous "slap" by French First Lady Brigitte Macron of her husband, as the couple exited their plane in Hanoi.

    Trump shares fake quotes, falsely accuses Obama of treason in late-night rant

    In a late-night social media blitz before his high-stakes China visit, US President Donald Trump unleashed a string of debunked conspiracy theories, AI-generated images and attacks on his political rivals. Posting 55 times in a span of three hours, Trump tore into former president Barack Obama, accusing him – without evidence – of treason and espionage during Trump's 2016 election campaign. He also revived falsehoods that the election was "stolen" from him in 2020, and attacked The New York Times.

Among these resurrected theories, the name of American billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has once again emerged.

    As the world saw with Covid-19, the only thing that spreads faster than a virus is misinformation, and hantavirus is no exception. Despite only a few confirmed cases, conspiracy theories have swirled on social media, falsely claiming hantavirus is a planned pandemic, or a ploy to disrupt the US midterm elections. Others allege it's a "bioweapon" created by big pharma to "poison" people or even that it's a side effect of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

    Photo shows Israeli soldier desecrating Virgin Mary statue in Lebanon

    The Israeli military says it has launched an investigation after a photo showing one of its soldiers desecrating a statue of the Virgin Mary in south Lebanon went viral, as he placed a cigarette into the statue's mouth whilst smoking. The IDF said it "respects freedom of religion" and that the soldier will be disciplined. The incident took place in Debel, the same village where an Israeli soldier was filmed last month smashing a Jesus statue with a sledgehammer.
