It’s very hard to listen to Gavin de Becker talk about the low rates of vaccine preventable diseases like tetanus and polio and not credit the vaccines for their low rates! Before the introduction of the polio vaccine in 1955, about 16,000 cases of paralytic poliomyelitis occurred annually on average in the U.S. in that period. Before the introduction of the tetanus vaccine in the 1940s, the United States experienced approximately 500 to 600 cases of tetanus annually, with mortality rates quite high. The highest number of reported cases was in 1948, with 601 cases, and tetanus mortality was around 91% in that period. And polio was almost eradicated. And Rogan is like “whoa” …without a thought in his head but his next big T shot in the buttocks. If you don’t want to be vaccinated or have your kids vaccinated, be my guest. Every treatment or medical intervention will have side effects, guaranteed. Talk about the risks and the benefits. That’s how rational decisions are made. But to state that “your kid has a 1/1,000,000 chance of polio is technically true, but only because of the vaccine. Stop vaccinations and we are back to nearly 20,000 paralyzed kids every year!
