Kim Wall

Episode 1 Kim Wall Best known for her articles in the Guardian, New York Times, and Vice, journalist, Kim Wall, disappeared in a submarine beneath the Oresund Strait after interviewing the inventor of the sub, Peter Madsen, on August 10, 2017. We can only speculate what exactly happened below the surface, but upon the submarine's resurface, Kim was missing, but Peter Madsen was not. Episode 5 Cheri Domingo & Greg Sanchez In July of 1981, the quiet town of Goleta in Santa Barbara County was rocked with the horrific murders of single mother, Cheri Domingo, and her boyfriend Greg Sanchez. Their murders would eventually be linked to a long line of brutal rapes and murders by an offender who would come to be known as the Golden State Killer. Cheri's daughter Debbi Domingo discussed the aftermath of losing Cheri and Greg, and her long and winding road to a resolution in the case. Episode 105 DOE: ID 'Mary Jane Doe' Tabetha Slain Murlin In may, 1992, a construction worker renovating a home in Fort Wayne, Indiana made a gruesome discovery. In the flooded basement of the home, he discovered a woman's body wrapped in a blanket. Investigators were unable to determine an exact cause of death due to the condition of her remains, although they did make one important discovery; she was about 26 weeks pregnant when she died. Although police suspected foul play, they didn't have much in the way of leads to ID a suspect in her death, and they didn't even know who she was. Efforts to ID her came up empty, and she was lais to rest with the moniker 'Mary Jane Doe'. Decades would pass before DNA & genealogy would finally provide some answers by late 2023; the dead woman was Tabetha Slain Murlin who was about 23 when she died. Her family had lost contact with her in the late 1980s, and although they tried to look for her over the next three decades, they had no luck, and presumed the worst. Now, police know who Tabetha is, but if she met with foul play, they don't knew who it was at the hands of. They would also like to determine the identity of her baby's father, and perhaps genealogy will one day help them do that. Charles Hollingsworth

Episode 53 Charles Hollingsworth Charles Hollingsworth seemed to have it all. He was a doctor with a successful medical practice in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He was married with 2 daughters, and lived an adventurous lifestyle with a love of jet skiing, running, and the outdoors. From all outward appearances, life was good for the 6ft1 doctor with 1950's movie star-leading man-like looks. But 1970 was a rough year for the 38 year-old. His marriage had fallen apart, and his wife finally left him after years of his infidelities. His wife found new love, but Charles found himself living alone. He was battling financial problems, and his family believed he had undiagnosed Manic Depression. On October 26, 1970, Charles left his office following an argument and was never seen again. His car was found abandoned in a desolate area 24 miles from where he was last seen. Inside the car were several of his belongings, including his gun and running shoes, but there was no sign of Charles, and he was never seen again. His case has been linked by some as possibly being connected to the missing persons case of Donna Lass. Lass, a nurse at a South Lake Tahoe casino, had moved into an apartment less than a mile from Charles Hollingsworth's apartment, just a day before she vanished on September 6, 1970. Charles Hollingsworth was declared legally dead, seven years after he vanished, but his family wants to know the truth about what happened to him, and they haven't totally ruled out the possibility that he left his old life behind to start over. Episode 108 Cynthia 'Cindy' Atterberry and Oscar 'Joe' McNear In 1981, 25-year-old Cynthia “Cindy” Atterberry and 30-year-old Oscar “Joe” McNear traveled from Springfield, Illinois to the Pike National Forest in Douglas County, Colorado. Neither were seen again. They vanished in late June of that year. Several years after their disappearance, detectives received a tip that Cindy and Joe had been shot to death by two men and that their bodies were buried on property owned by one of the men near the South Platte River. The area was searched; however, the bodies of Cindy and Joe were never located. The Douglas County, CO Sheriff's office continues to investigate this case, and are asking the public to come forward with any tips. In this episode, we are joined by Crime Analysis Supervisor and Genetic Genealogist, Michele Kennedy, and Detective Dean DeLuca of the Douglas County Sheriff's office. When Cindy was last seen, she was described as a White female standing 5ft2 and weighing 111 pounds. Cindy's NAMUS file Joe was described as a White Male, 6ft tall, and weighing 160 pounds. He likely had a moustache and beard. Episode 113 Mary Morgan Pewitt In 1988, 25 year-old single mother of two, Mary Morgan Pewitt of Comanche, Oklahoma was in the process of building a new life for her and her daughters, Kira and Amber. She had been divorced twice, and was on her way to a third divorce. She was determined to get ahead for her daughters. But when she lost her job as a nurse in a nursing home due to an injury, Mary took a job as a server at Harold's Club- the only bar in Commanche at the time. On the night of June 3rd, 1988, just her 13th day on the job, Mary worked closing shift, so Kira and Amber stayed the night with Mary's mom, Elizabeth. Early the next morning, Elizabeth dropped the girls off at their home and expected to find Mary there to greet them. When she didn't answer, Amber climbed up to look thru her mom's bedroom window, and caught sight of something awful. Mary was lying lifeless on her bed covered in blood. She had been stabbed more than 2 dozen times. In what seemed like a crime of passion, police attention turned to the men in Mary's life; her 3 ex husbands, and her current boyfriend. With changing stories, and a history of friction, the police had their work cut out for them trying to figure out who murdered Mary Morgan Pewitt.
