Canes hold off Boston, 2-1.

Sebastian Aho scored the game-winning goal in the middle of the 3rd period as the Canes beat the Bruins, 2-1, at Lenovo Center. Pyotr Kochetkov made 14 saves for his 8th win in as many starts as the Hurricanes improve to 10-2-2 on the season. Kochetkov's 8 straight wins to start the year ties the franchise record set by Frederik Andersen in the 2021-22 season. It was also his 5th win against the Bruins and improves his record against them to 5-0-1. Jackson Blake's 3rd goal of the year tied the game in the final minute of the 1st period and has 14 points in Carolina's 14 games this year. The Penalty Kill shut the Bruins down after allowing a Pavel Zacha goal just 91 seconds into the game. The kill was needed twice in the final 5 minutes to close out the win.

Canes 'peg' 7th straight win on the Jets, 3-2

Pyotr Kochetkov made 21 saves, Mark Jankowski scored a goal in his 6th straight game, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi broke a 38-game drought with a goal as the Canes opened up the State Fair road trip with a 3-2 win over the Jets. You could say that Carolina was responsible for all 5 goals on the night as both Winnipeg tallies were at least created by poor plays in their own end. Nikolaj Ehlers gave the puck away to Mark Scheifele for the 1st Jets goal. Then Kochetkov fumbled the puck outside his crease for the 2nd. But, Carolina scored twice on the power play and got strong efforts up and down the lineup in the win. Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger-Sorum entered the chat due to injures along the forward line and each played well. Nadeau assisted on the Jankowski power play goal that got the Canes on the board in the 2nd period. Canes Corner is presented by the Aluminum Company of North Carolina. aluminumcompany.com

Canes ride Svechnikov, Kochetkov to 4-2 win over Capitals

The Carolina Hurricanes picked up their 6th straight win, 4-2, over Washington as Andrei Svechnikov produced a couple of goals and an assist and Pyotr Kochetkov turned aside 20 of 22 Capitals shots in the win. Carolina fell behind by a goal twice during the game, but over the last 32 minutes played arguably their best hockey of the young season. Eric Robinson's second goal of the year tied the game at 2-2 right before the end of the period setting the stage for Svechnikov to put the Canes ahead on the power play with a shade more than 6 minutes to play. Sebastian Aho had 2 assists on the night. Carolina played without Jordan Staal for the second straight game and then lost Taylor Hall to an upper body injury after playing just over 4 minutes. It was announced before the game that Staal would be out for 1-2 months with a partially torn calf muscle. Canes Corner is presented by the Aluminum Company of North Carolina. aluminumcompany.com

Mark Jankowski's 3rd period goal completed the scoring and was his 4th straight game with a goal -- a career high. Aho's first of the game came just 10 seconds into the 1st period as the Canes led for the first time this season. His second came on a 3rd period power play that tied the game at 2-2. Then he had one of the assists on the Gostisbehere game winner. Pyotr Kochetkov made his first start since December 20 and made 16 saves in the win. Canes do it again, beat Montreal, 3-2, in overtime

For the second straight game, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2, in overtime. It was the 5th overtime win of the playoffs for Carolina and all five have ended with the Hurricanes winning 3-2. The Canes stretch their playoff overtime winning streak to 7 in a row. For the 3rd straight game in this series Carolina scored the opening goal. Shayne Gostisbehere's 1st of the postseason opened the account with a rebound of a Mark Jankowski shot. Then, 54 seconds after Mike Matheson tied the game, Taylor Hall's 4th of the playoffs restored Carolina to the lead. Alas, as it was on Saturday in Raleigh, Carolina failed to skate that lead to the house and went to overtime. Andrei Svechnikov gets the game winning goal, just his second goal of the playoffs. The Hurricanes can stretch the lead to 3 games to 1 on Wednesday.

Canes survive Sens in double overtime, 3-2

Frederik Andersen's 36 saves and Jordan Martinook's overtime heroics help the Canes survive game 2 with a 3-2 win and a 2-0 series lead. Andersen, after allowing a poor goal to Dylan Cozens in the latter portion of the 2nd period that tied the game at 2, became the man who shut the door on Ottawa on Saturday afternoon. Twenty two saves later, Freddie is 2-0 in the playoffs and the Canes can sleep a little better with a 2-game lead. Martinook, who had a penalty shot saved by Linus Ullmark in the 1st overtime, buried his 1st of the playoffs, 13:53 into the 5th period to send the Caniacs home happy. Mark Jankowski thought he'd won it the previous period, but the goal was wiped out for being offside. The ruling was that Jordan Staal lost control of the puck as he brought it into the offensive zone which made Martinook offside on the play. Even though -- on that play -- Warren Foegele hooked his former teammate which led to a penalty shot. Though, Martinook failed to convert it. Logan Stankoven scored on the power play and Sebastian Aho scored one second after an Ottawa power play expired for the other two goals. Canes blister Canucks, 7-2, behind Stankoven's 1st career hat trick

Logan Stankoven notched his first career NHL hat trick and Sean Walker had 4 assists as the Canes dominated the Canucks, 7-2. K'Andre Miller's goal just 78 seconds into the game was a sign of what was to come. Before the midpoint of the period Andre Svechnikov would score twice on the power play. Then, after Mark Jankowski scored his second goal in as many games to make it 4-0, Stankoven ran off three straight Canes goals for a natural hat trick and the rout was complete. Pyotr Kochetkov made 18 saves in the win. Taylor Hall, Jackson Blake and Shayne Gostisbehere each had 2 assists in the win. The Hurricanes were perfect on special teams, going 3 for 3 on the power play and killing off all 4 Vancouver chances with the man advantage -- plus, the first of Stankoven's goals came shorthanded.
