    pa, last pass

Palaspas-welcoming Jesus. “ Jesus went up to Jerusalem(754masl), from Jericho(260mbsl), 29 kilometers on a donkey. Hari ba yan? Oo, mahirap na hari. Walang kawal, walang political power. A complete opposite of a king. Siguro, pinapakita ni Hesus na there is power beyond our understanding that only He can provide. He will face the ultimate fight against death itself! –Alam mo palang mamamatay ka, bakit tinuloy mo pa? Alam mong papahirapan ka, bakit ka pa pumunta? Alam mong kukutyain ka, bakit ka pa dumiretso doon? Ginawa mo na ang lahat. Naging mabuti ka, naging mabait ka, naging mapagbigay ka!!! Ano ka ba? Sana hindi ka na tumuloy. How cowardly was I? We have scandalized the term love when we think of it as something romantic, fun and happily ever after only. Love cannot be love without sacrifice. Romantic nga, wala naman kayong bigas. Masaya nga, wala namang kayong pangarap. Happily ever after nga, kaso sabay huminto ang istorya nyong dalawa. Love, from the POV of Jesus, is His willingness to face danger and death just to make sure that we understand how much we mean to Him. ang pagmamahal ni Hesus ay hindi sa masaya lang, sa seemingly perfect lang, sa romance lang, ang pagmamahal Niya ay fighting for us even at the cost of His own life. Martyrdom at its highest definition. It is not to tolerate evil. Jesus continues to love us not because we will commit the same sins again and again, He does not tolerate that. He loves us so that we can love ourselves so as we also can learn to free ourselves from the bondage of sins. Do not be full of yourself! Amen,

    Jesus wants you dead...in sin!

Akala ko ba mahal mo ako Hesus?       Friendship with Jesus is a mystery. We want healing but Jesus wants rising. Jesus wants you dead so you can rise again. It is a mystery why we suffer, but it is not a mystery why we trust Jesus. We trust Him because He wants what is best for us. Let us not desire for healing only, but rising! Rise, my child! You are better than that. Ang God only wants what is best for you! So rise, and live a life filled with the Spirit of God.

    see the light

Jesus is the light. Can you see in darkness? We see darkness. We see nothingness in the dark. But to be born blind, not knowing the difference of darkness and light, there is really nothing that you can see. And as per the tradition, Jews believed that to be born blind, you must be a sinner or your parents are sinners. But for Jesus, the blindness of the man is a foundation to reveal the might of God. It was in the weakness of the man that the Might of God was revealed. How many times did you ever blame God for your weaknesses? How many times did you ever insult God for having the weaknesses that you have? Jesus heals the blind man and “sends” him to the pool from which the healing happened.  Pharisees and Jews rejected the act of Jesus. Blinded by their own self-righteousness,\ True blindness is not having nothing to see True blindness is rejecting the might of God amidst our weaknesses. True blindness is rejecting the Light, which is Jesus, and to continue living in the dark True blindness is seeing the truth and still choosing the lies True blindness is seeing but refusing to believe Second meeting of Jesus and the healed man, he came to have faith and worship him. To be healed is to be anointed by God for a mission.(1st) We have a phrase, hanggat may buhay, may pag-asa. Anong pag-asa? To be healed is to be made a new creation. New creations do not live in darkness anymore.(2nd) True sight is not having a 20/20 vision True sight is having both eyes focused on the truth of Jesus True sight is having both eyes focused on the way of Jesus True sight is having both eyes focused on the life of Jesus This season of lent, a season of healing and renewal. Jesus is telling us that our weaknesses are foundations of His mighty power over evil. And that our weaknesses are healed in our faith in Him. and to be worthy of the healing, we must embrace our mission and live a life of a new creation away from the darkness of sins. Amen.

    renewal and change

We begin our journey of lenten season with Jesus in the desert. There we accompanied Him in his victory against the temptation of the devil. Last sunday, Jesus brought us to the mountain with Peter, James and John and we saw His transfiguration. Now, Jesus is leading us to rest by the well in Samaria, a town of Samaritans, a place of the enemies of the Jews. Jesus is the source of the water of everlasting life Thirst is caused by human need to rehydrate. Dehydration is caused by not drinking enough fluids. Once compensated, in no time, humans will be thirsty again and will require rehydration because the body is in need of constant rehydration. Human body is made up of 75% of water. Without water, we cannot survive. But Jesus is teaching us that he will provide for the water of everlasting life. A drink that will make us lose our desire to drink water again for we will not be thirsty anymore. First, Jesus is the source of water of everlasting life. We cannot find other sources than Jesus. There is nothing like Him in our lives. We can try to searching for something else that can give us what Jesus gives, but we will end up in frustration. We can find alternatives. The problem is, we settle for less than we deserve. If there is a lesson here, it is to accept the fact that Jesus has no alternative. Lenten Season is a chance for us to reflect on the things which we try to substitute to Jesus. It could be alcohol, work, social media, or money. At the end, they are replaceable and limited only. Combined together, they will not suffice compared to what Jesus is giving us. Second, He provides us with an answer for our daily need to rehydrate. More than rehydration, Jesus is showing us that He is the answer to our daily struggles in life for our need to be satisfied. There is an inner emptiness in us that only Jesus can fill. It is an eternal satisfaction so that we would not experience void again in our lives. Thirst is lack of water. Frustration, loneliness, hopelessness is the lack of Jesus in our lives. It is so much easier to quench our thirst rather than fill the emptiness in our hearts. Sometimes, we create illusions in life to hide our pain in facing the emptiness within. We laugh, we shout, we show that we are excited in life, but in reality, we are being eaten alive by the pain of emptiness. Sabi nga nila, the greatest tragedy in life is not untimely death, but to live an empty life. Jesus here is giving us the answer to our meaningless struggle in life, Jesus is giving us the definition on how to live a meaningful one. During this lenten season, the definition of our life must be renewal and change. Renewal, just like the Samaritan woman, of our vows in our promise during baptism. We will renew our denial of the devil and its work, and renewal of our belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Second, a change of our ways to deepen our relationship with God. Renewal and change are our goals as definitions of our lives. Conclusion, water of everlasting life can only be found in Jesus. There is no substitute and no alternative. And that water is the answer for a purpose driven life, a meaningful life. During this lenten season, may we surrender to Jesus in our apparent need to seek for alternative, and give in to the water of everlasting life He is offering us that will give us renewal and change. Amen.
