Doug Wilson, Neo-Christendom, and Reclaiming America: Why? - Jaran Miller

Doug Wilson and the Reformed movement around Moscow, Idaho are now mainstream news, and the pull has reached Mennonite churches. Jaran Miller, one of the founders of Anabaptist Perspectives, explores why this is happening. Who is Doug Wilson? What does he teach? Why is Reformed theology appealing to some Mennonites? In this episode, we also hear from other voices, including Landon Miller, who explains why he left the Mennonite church and joined Doug Wilson’s church. Titus Keufper also contributes to the conversation. Titus once debated Doug Wilson, and he explains why he believes Reformed teaching is appealing to some Anabaptists. Titus Kuepfer’s Debate with Doug Wilson “On Culture War, Doug Wilson, and the Moscow Mood” by Kevin DeYoung NPR on Hegseth and Christ Church Douthat Interview with Wilson NPR Scrutiny of Wilson and the related movement "A short instruction for to arme all good Christian people agaynst the pestiferous errours of the common secte of Anabaptistes" Compiled by mayster Iohn Caluine The Early Church on Killing by Ronald J. Mentioned in this episode: Bridge Campaign For nine years, generous supporters have enabled Anabaptist Perspectives to publish regular, upbuilding content. Essays, episodes, the teaching series of Frank Reed, and this summer, Anabaptist Origins: all released freely across a wide range of platforms. Our team grew to meet the production demands of the past two years, with that growth largely funded by giving raised for specific projects like Origins. That giving did what it was meant to do and has now been spent. While our monthly supporter base has grown to over 130 members, their giving does not yet cover ongoing production costs. Current supporters provide an incredibly valuable foundation, so a lack of additional donors would not stop the work, but it would slow considerably. Staying within our current base would mean scaling back hours, publishing less often, and setting the larger projects aside. You have a real say in what we can and cannot do. To sustain what we have built and carry some margin into next year, we are seeking $50,000 by the end of November. Thanks to generous donors, the first $12,000 of this will be matched dollar for dollar. I Was Raised Mennonite. By 18, I Was in Prison. - Pete Schmitt

Pete Schmitt was raised in an Old Colony Russian Mennonite community. At 16, he decided to leave the church. After getting involved in drugs and other destructive behaviors, Pete found himself in prison for accidentally taking another person’s life. All throughout this time, he was ignoring God’s attempts to get his attention. It was only after spending time in prison that Pete finally came back to Christianity and found healing for the pain and evil that had been controlling his life. In this roundtable, Dean Taylor and Stephen Russell explain why this story from 500 years ago deeply matters to us today.
