In this intensely divided moment, one of the few things everyone still seems to agree on is Dolly Parton—but why? That simple question leads to a deeply personal, historical, and musical rethinking of one of America’s great icons. Join us for a 9-episode journey into the Dollyverse. Hosted by Jad Abumrad, creator of Radiolab and More Perfect.
Dolly Parton’s America is co-produced by OSM Audio and WNYC Studios.

Everyone should listen to this!
I´m a podcaster myself, quite successfull - musicpodcast #100malMusiklegenden - but what you do, is art! And I mean it! Starting with the idea - brilliant - all your implications, all the hypotheses, the story with your father - it is so good! Plus - it´s simply fun listening to it! But intelligent fun. You don´t find that around sp often! So everyone: don´t think of Dolly, don´t think of country music, just listen to it and you will learn something for life! Trust me!
I love Dolly but...
I think the podcast is a bit overproduced (stop the awful reverb orgies, please) and at times overconstructed - trust the listeners more! And if you have hours of material of Dolly speaking, maybe incorporate it? But hey, it is a podcast about one of the coolest people of all times and it is entertaining enough. So yeah, still 4 stars.
Just ridiculous.
The craft, the production values, the way this bunch manage to dig through the everyday and grab the thread peeking out a baggy shirt and pull a storyline with this huge beautiful theme on humanity and real people from the most unreal person you’ve ever wished you could meet.
