When You Don't Feel Like Yourself: Honoring the Seasons When Your Voice Goes Quiet

In this raw, unedited episode, Marci is talking honestly about what happened when my voice went quiet. For two weeks, she didn’t release a podcast episode. Not because she had nothing to say, but because what she had to say wasn't available to her. Marci was carrying some heavy sadness. She had used a lot of creative energy on other projects. And honestly, she was discouraged. Marci had released a previous episode she believed was one of her strongest, shared clips from it on social media, and was met with very little response. In the past, Marci might have pushed through, forced herself to produce something, and called that discipline. But she's been practicing how to listen. In this episode, Marci talks about the difference between avoidance and honoring yourself, between lovingly stretching yourself and overriding what your nervous system and inner world may actually need. Marci also explores what happens when you stop making a temporary lack of energy, motivation, creativity, or capacity mean something about who you are. You’ll hear encouragement to ask yourself: Am I avoiding something that needs courage, or is something inside me genuinely asking to be heard? What am I making this season mean about me?What would it look like to stay in relationship with myself instead of judging or forcing myself? Can I let discouragement be present without abandoning myself because of it?Sometimes your voice doesn’t come back because you finally found the perfect thing to say. Sometimes it comes back when you give yourself permission to tell the truth about why it went quiet. If you’ve been feeling discouraged, disconnected, creatively drained, emotionally tired, or like you should be doing more than you currently have capacity for, this episode is for you. 🌟 Useful Links & Resources from Marci ✨  3 Secrets to Instantly Feel Better  Scroll to the bottom of this page for quick, powerful tips to shift your emotional state fast. 💖 Join the Self Love YOUniversity A supportive space where Christian women learn to love themselves deeply, show up confidently, and live with purpose.   👉 Click here to enroll or learn more 🧭 Book a FREE Clarity Call Want to feel more grounded, calm, and confident—starting now? Who Are You, Really? How to Stop Letting Roles, Labels, and Circumstances Define You

Who are you beneath the roles you perform, the circumstances you have experienced, and the labels other people have given you? As women, it is easy to describe ourselves by what we do or what has happened to us: mother, wife, caregiver, divorced, single, shy, anxious, responsible, or the one who holds everything together. But those roles and labels are not really who you are. In this episode of The Courageous and Confident Christian Mom, Marci explores the powerful difference between your roles and your identity. Your roles exist outside of you. They describe positions you hold, responsibilities you carry, and seasons you have lived through. Your identity lives inside of you—in your heart, values, character, faith, compassion, courage, resilience, and eternal worth. Marci also shares a beautiful moment from her Come Home to Your Heart masterclass. After exploring a list of personal characteristics, one woman recognized how deeply she had identified with the labels “shy,” “divorced,” and “single mom.” Through years of healing and coaching, she came to understand that those labels described parts of her experience, but they did not define who she was. In this episode, you will learn: The difference between a role, circumstance, label, and identityHow labels can quietly shape your self-concept and self-worthWhy something that was once true about you does not have to remain your identityHow to recognize the qualities that reflect who you truly areWhy reconnecting with your identity is an important part of self-love and emotional healingYou are not merely what you have done, what you have survived, or what someone else decided to call you. You are so much more. This episode will help you look beneath the roles and begin coming home to the woman who has been there all along. Episode Website

Why You Feel Guilty Resting: The Part That Will Not Let You Slow Down

Do you ever finally have time to rest, but instead of relaxing, you feel guilty, restless, or like you should be doing something productive? In this episode, Marci Owen explores why rest can feel so hard for women who are used to carrying responsibility, managing everyone’s needs, staying productive, and pushing through exhaustion. Using a personal story from her retreat, Marci shares how even in a quiet, beautiful space, a part of her wanted to maximize every minute, make the retreat meaningful, and turn rest into another thing to accomplish. This episode will help you understand the protective part of you that believes slowing down is unsafe, selfish, lazy, or irresponsible. Instead of judging yourself for not being able to relax, you will learn how to get curious about what is happening inside you and begin creating a safer relationship with rest. If you struggle with rest guilt, burnout, overdoing, people-pleasing, productivity pressure, or feeling like you always have to earn your right to slow down, this conversation will help you feel seen and supported. You will learn: Why rest can feel unsafe to your nervous systemHow productivity can become a protective patternWhy slowing down may bring up guilt, fear, or discomfortHow to talk compassionately to the part of you that cannot restWhat it means to receive instead of constantly produceYou are not bad at resting. A part of you may simply need to learn that rest is safe now. Nothing Is Blooming Yet: Trusting Your Growth When You Feel Stuck

Have you ever looked at your life and wondered if anything is actually changing? You have been doing the inner work. You have been praying, trying, learning, healing, showing up, and working on yourself. But maybe your relationship is still hard, anxiety still shows up, your circumstances have not changed, or the thing you are hoping for has not happened yet. It can be easy to decide that nothing is working. But what if something important is growing beneath the surface? In this episode, Marci Owen shares her insights about a wildflower corner, an agave plant, and the reminder that not all growth is visible right away. Some seasons are not about blooming. Some seasons are about building roots. Marci talks about why women often measure their growth only by visible outcomes and how that can keep them stuck in self-criticism, comparison, impatience, and discouragement. She offers a new way to recognize the quiet signs of healing that may already be happening inside you. You may not have the flower yet. But that does not mean you are not growing. In this episode, you will learn: Why visible results are not the only evidence of personal growthHow nervous system healing and inner work often happen quietlyWhat “root work” looks like in real lifeWhy impatience and self-criticism can interrupt your healing processHow to recognize the small signs that you are becoming more steady, self-trusting, and emotionally resilientIf you are in a slow season, a healing season, or a season where nothing seems to be blooming yet, this episode will help you honor the growth that is taking place beneath the surface. Your quiet growth still counts. How to Stop Carrying Everyone’s Emotions: Over-Responsibility, Overgiving, and Motherhood Burnout

Do you feel like everyone in your family hands you their invisible basket—and somehow you end up carrying the schedules, the moods, the forgotten details, the conflict, the dinner plans, and everyone else’s disappointment? In this episode, Marci Owen talks about the protective pattern of over-responsibility: the part of you that feels like it is your job to keep everyone happy, prevent conflict, remember everything, manage the mood in the room, and make life work for everyone else. You will learn how to recognize when love has quietly turned into over-functioning, why capable and caring women can become exhausted and resentful, and how fear of disappointment, disconnection, conflict, or losing love can keep you carrying what was never yours to hold. Marci shares a simple “basket check” to help you identify what belongs to you, what belongs to someone else, and what you may be ready to put down. This episode will help you support the people you love without disappearing under the weight of their emotions, choices, responsibilities, and reactions. You are allowed to care without carrying it all. You are allowed to love without over-functioning. And you are allowed to let other people have their own agency while you come home to yourself. When “I’m Fine” Is Not the Truth: Understanding Fawn Mode

Have you ever said, “I’m fine,” when you were not fine at all? Maybe you said it to keep the peace, avoid conflict, prevent someone from being disappointed, or protect the relationship. On the outside, you looked calm, agreeable, helpful, and easygoing. But inside, you felt hurt, overwhelmed, resentful, lonely, unseen, or afraid to tell the truth. In this episode of The Courageous and Confident Christian Mom Podcast, Marci Owen teaches about fawn mode, people-pleasing, self-abandonment, and the fear of losing connection. Fawn mode is a nervous system response that can cause you to say yes when you mean no, hide your true feelings, avoid hard conversations, ignore your own needs, and prioritize everyone else’s comfort over your own truth. For many women, especially in motherhood, marriage, family relationships, and Christian living, “I’m fine” becomes a protective pattern. It may look like patience, kindness, flexibility, or keeping the peace, but underneath it may be fear: If I tell the truth, will I still be loved? Marci helps you understand why your body may know the truth before your mouth can say it, how people-pleasing creates resentment and emotional disconnection, and why self-abandonment is not the price of love. You’ll learn how to recognize when “I’m fine” is not honesty but protection, and how to begin coming home to yourself with compassion, emotional honesty, and self-respect. In this episode, you’ll learn: What fawn mode is and how it shows up in relationshipsWhy people-pleasing can be a nervous system responseHow saying “I’m fine” can become a protective patternWhy self-abandonment creates resentment and emotional exhaustionHow fear of conflict and fear of rejection affect communicationHow to tell the truth to yourself before speaking it out loudHow to be loving, kind, faithful, and honest without disappearingIf you have ever struggled with people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, emotional honesty, boundaries, resentment, or saying yes when you mean no, this episode will help you understand yourself with more compassion and begin listening to the truth inside of you. You do not have to disappear to be loved. You can be kind and honest. You can be faithful and clear. You can keep connection without abandoning yourself. 🌟 Useful Links & Resources from Marci 👩🏻‍🦳Get my free Mother From Strength Guide and receive two downloads to help you release guilt, rethink old motherhood beliefs, and return to mothering from peace, truth, and strength. Their Effort Is Not Your Grade: Letting Go of Motherhood Guilt

Have you ever watched your child struggle, pull away, make choices you would not choose, or seem to stop trying — and immediately made it mean something about you as a mother? Maybe they do not call or text as often as you wish. Maybe they are struggling with school, relationships, motivation, faith, emotional health, work, or life choices. Maybe they are not showing the effort you hoped they would. And somewhere inside, the questions begin: What did I do wrong? Did I not teach them enough? Was I too hard? Too soft? Did I fail them somehow? In this episode of The Courageous and Confident Christian Mom Podcast, Marci Owen speaks directly to the hidden emotional report card many mothers carry. When our children’s effort, choices, communication, and outcomes become evidence of whether we are a good mom, motherhood guilt can become heavy, exhausting, and relentless. Marci explains why your child’s effort is not your grade. Their motivation, communication habits, spiritual journey, emotional growth, choices, and willingness to change belong to them. You can love, guide, support, teach, pray, repair, and stay connected — but you cannot carry their agency or make their life choices your report card. This episode will help you step out of fear, over-responsibility, and self-blame so you can mother from truth, love, and self-respect. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why mothers often measure their worth through their children’s choices and effortHow motherhood guilt can turn into fear, over-functioning, and emotional exhaustionWhy your child’s behavior, communication, and motivation are not a reflection of your valueHow to separate facts from the painful meaning you make about yourselfWhat belongs to your child and what belongs to youHow to love without controlling, rescuing, or carrying what is not yoursHow to return to peace when your child is struggling or making choices you cannot controlIf you are a mom who worries deeply about your child’s future, replays your parenting decisions, feels responsible for their happiness, or wonders whether their struggles mean you failed, this episode will offer relief, perspective, and a path back to truth. You are responsible for the mother you choose to be. You are not responsible for controlling the person your child chooses to become.
