    Family: A Family Rooted In Christ

    I wanted to record this episode with Austin, but alas, he got a touch of something cough-related when I wanted to record (convenient… 👀) and then he up and left for aNOTHer school… Sounds about right! Please be praying for his inevitable success with this promotion course and for my sanity as I solo parent for the umpteenth time here in Germany. ANYWAYS, thank you Chaplain Smith for some help putting into words what I wanted to say in this episode. We should have a Kingdom Culture in our families; we shouldn’t expect the Church to supply our family culture... The Church is a TOOL and a WITNESS to the Kingdom, not above the Kingdom itself. Without the Kingdom, there is no Church, yet the Church is being idolized by Christians so much in western society today… We need to bring the KINGDOM culture (via our families) to the CHURCH, amen!? Anyways, if you wanna hear me get on my soapbox with applicable ways to bring the Kingdom of God into your family culture, the benefits of doing so, and even some “drawbacks”... 👀 Give this episode a listen!     Family: Ministry (or Ministries) As A Family (with Austin!)

    How have our childhoods affected how we see “the church” and “the Church”? Were we forced to go to church as kids or teens? Will we force our kids to attend church against their wills? Will we force them to serve on “Sunday teams”? What about Kid and Student Ministry events?     Parenting: Biblical Education

    Praise God for His LIVING and APPLICABLE word! Today’s episode covers “Biblical Education”. No, I’m not going to talk about homeschooling again haha, but I am going to go a little down the Charlotte Mason philosophy road! Children are born as WHOLE persons, so their education should NOT and does NOT only take place during school hours! Everything about life teaches us, so this episode is full of Scripture that can help us navigate educating our children in LIFE!     Parenting: Child Discipleship (with the kids!)

    Join Luke, Jamee, and I this week as we have a formal “discipleship session”.  Yes, it consists of songs, giggles, and bumping into the desk quite a bit.  No, this is not what all of our conversations look like, and no, I didn’t have perfect, gentle answers for all of their questions (such as “Where did Ranger (our dog) go when he died?” or my favorite from the END of the episode, “Wait, what’s a Christian?” hahaha SIGH…) The point of this week’s episode is to encourage you! You won’t ever have all the answers, and they will NEVER stop having questions. Our job is to do our best, stay in our Word so we can disciple them, and guide them directly to the Word and to prayer so that they can start to find their own answers straight from the source.  You are the parent! YOU have the most influence on who they become, so of course, lead by example (more is caught than taught!), but also open up the line of communication EVEN IF you aren’t confident in your “knowledge” yet. Neither are they! We get to learn alongside them :) Verse of the Week: 2 Corinthians 5:20, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” Follow, SHARE, and rate, please!

    Parenting: Biblical Discipline 

    What if I told you “spare the rod, spoil the child” is NOT in the Bible, but an even worse alternative “he who spares the rod, hates his son” IS!? Of course, the rod isn’t what you may have been taught as a child…  Let’s talk about what the rod is, when it may be necessary, how to keep our kids out of Sheol, and why we need parents to DISCIPLINE their children!     Marriage: Unequally Yoked or Lop-sided Spiritual Maturity

    What happens when a Christian marries a non-Christian? What happens when one spouse comes to Christ and the other doesn’t? What happens when one spouse has been a dedicated believer for decades and the other is a brand new Christian, struggling with the “simplest” doctrines? What happens when both spouses are believers, but one wants to sit on their salvation and the other wants to continuously grow in their faith?  This episode is for all the single and ready to mingle, dating, engaged, and married folk, ESPECIALLY those who fit into those situations I just mentioned. These are complicated situations to walk through, and I don’t pretend to have all of the answers, but I do have some scriptures and a prayer.  Believing spouse: You are never alone, and you have a tough but beautiful and an ETERNALLY significant mission!  Unbelieving or new-to-the-faith spouse: You are loved, welcomed, and yes, I’m going to tell your Believing spouse to stop nagging you!     Marriage: Doing LIFE Together, Not Just “Couple Devotionals” Ft. Austin

    Kudos to all the married couples who can study the same thing at the same time in the same way as their spouse! I wholeheartedly love that for you, that’s just not how our marriage works… This episode is for all the single and ready to mingle, dating, engaged, and married folk, ESPECIALLY those who are struggling to (or haven’t even considered trying to) intertwine their faith journey with their significant other.  I had the idea that Austin and I would be studying the Bible (the same book at the same time with the same goal!) over a cup of coffee every morning before work… Yeah… That’s not EXACTLY what our faith walks look like, to say the least!
