    Russia had a Bad (OR VERY BAD) Night

    Ukraine launched one of the largest overnight strike packages we have seen in some time, with roughly 480 drones reported heading into Russia and occupied Ukraine. But the biggest story may be the Flamingo cruise-missile strike on the Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara, Russia’s sole facility for serial assembly of Soyuz-2 launch vehicles and a facility connected to Moscow’s attempt to develop its own satellite capability after Russian forces lost unauthorized access to Starlink. Ukraine also targeted Savasleyka Air Base, home to MiG-31K aircraft capable of launching Kinzhal missiles.     Wow: Putin Is Building a Gulag Economy

    Russia may have just crossed a line that matters far more than another bad economic statistic. One of Russia’s best-known exiled economists says Putin is moving the country toward a harsh command economy—and the evidence is showing up in two places at once.     Russia Just Revealed the Next Phase of the War

    Russia is sending an increasingly clear message about where the war goes from here. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Moscow will not stop at the current line of contact and says Russia intends to use “much harsher” methods against the support sustaining Ukraine’s military. Meanwhile, Russia has rejected proposals to halt certain strikes and is openly signaling continued pressure against Ukraine. The timing matters. UN monitors verified 437 Ukrainian civilians killed in July—the deadliest month since May 2022—while Russia launched 429 missiles, more than twice June’s total. Ukraine is responding by rapidly developing new defenses, including jet-powered interceptor drones capable of speeds above 600 km/h.     REAL UPLOAD: Russians NO LONGER Want the War

    In this video, I look at something potentially important happening inside Russia: not simply battlefield losses, but a change in the way Russians themselves are talking about the war. Residents of Novorossiysk describe an unprecedented night of attacks and fear. One Russian woman openly asks what the point of the war is and says people are reaching the breaking point. Nobel Peace Prize winner Dmitry Muratov says the constituency that strongly favors continuing the war has shrunk dramatically and that many Russians now simply want a ceasefire. Then Russian military commentator Maxim Kalashnikov goes much further—questioning Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets, calling the “special military operation” a war, describing it as a fiasco, and warning that Russia itself could face a severe systemic crisis. And then there is Dmitry Medvedev, insisting that Russians who oppose the war simply have “problems with their brains.” The contrast is striking.
