Drunk Go-Karting in the Rain in Malaysia, Piss Alley in Tokyo & Stealing a Porcelain Pineapple in Austria

Part 8 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and it's all travel yarns. Geordie's held a camera in more countries than most people visit in a lifetime. Sitting on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, which he points out is a fair way from Dalby. Nights out in Piss Alley in Shinjuku, where three streets are packed with about 150 tiny family-run bars that fit three patrons each and some won't even let tourists in. Then Malaysia. Filming a vehicle announcement with the princes of Johor, wrapped in the afternoon, and found a 24 hour go-kart track. There's a bar at the track and they do not care how full you are. Started pissing down rain, the whole place was theirs, staff jumped in karts and started chucking buckets of water on the track so the boys could do drifties at midnight. And the big one. First trip out of Australia at 23, on a Contiki with 14 Aussie blokes in the Austrian ski town of Hopfgarten. Dead bar, a house drink called a fruit salad, a Stratocaster on the stage, and the moment Geordie started playing Highway to Hell a whole bus of Australians walked through the door. Ends with a stolen porcelain pineapple, a taxi, and waking up cuddling it covered in dots. Need a video done? Growing Up Outside Dalby & the School Principal Who Became One of Australia’s Most Notorious Killers

Part 7 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and it takes a heavy turn. Geordie starts light, growing up on a bit of land outside Dalby with his old man teaching at the local state school, and reckons Progress Street in Kwinalei has seen the least progress of any street in the country. The pub’s shut down too, so it’s Kaimkillenbun for a feed these days. Then he tells the yarn about his high school principal, Stacey Train, who years later was one of the three people involved in the Wieambilla shootings. Geordie’s memory of her is a good one. The day a supply teacher marched him and his mates off the school oval for climbing trees at lunch, dumped them in Stacey’s office, and Stacey just looked at them and said “you probably shouldn’t have been in the tree, so walk out of here and look sad.”  Geordie talks about the subtle signs he can see looking back, the family relationships that were already breaking down, and what it’s like watching someone you knew as a decent human end up somewhere unthinkable. His take is that you’ve got to watch who you surround yourself with, because you never know where you end up. Need a video done? Find Creators of Awesome. ⚠️ Explicit content. Geordie Lillis on Getting Struck by Lightning at 14, Breaking His Neck at 21 & Running Cables for the Hulk on ThorPart 3 with Geordie Lillis

Part 3 with Geordie Lillis from Creators of Awesome, and this one goes off. Geordie kicks off with a proper true yarn. At 14, riding his motorbike on the family farm, he got struck by lightning. The bolt hit the power line above him and arced through the ground into his bike. Rubber wheels, rubber gloves, rubber boots. That's the only reason he's here to tell it. Mum watched him vanish in a white flash. He's got the GoPro footage too. The lightning gave him a heart arrhythmia that stuck around until he broke his neck at 21 and the shock reset his heart. Turns out breaking your neck's not all bad news. Geordie walks through the recovery. 21 years old, working on movies at Village Roadshow, one bad skim board fall on the beach, hairline fracture through C1, and months lying in bed counting flies. Then a university lecturer offered him a job teaching filmmaking around Queensland to little indigenous communities. The Pomperaw yarn about handing shoelaces to barefoot kids who turned them into fishing nets by lunch is a ripper. Plus a full breakdown of how a film set actually works. Cinematographer, focus puller, second AC, video utility. And Geordie's specific job on Thor: Ragnarok running hundreds of metres of cable so Chris Hemsworth could see the Hulk in his eyeline.
