Kundenrezensionen
Good
This show is of course part of a long podcast tradition of parodizing reviews read on the internet via improvisation comedy. I was obviously skeptical as this format has been around since the dawn of the medium. As a fan of the genre I did fear that the old tropes would be repeated with each episode. Would this podcast be another collection of random reviews on the internet, would the improvisation be mostly flaky conversations between store owner and customer, one an oddball, the other straight man, would it be topped off with a bit of private conversation between the hosts and a final rapping sequence as so many other programs have done in the past? To my surprise, "Review Revue" is quite different. The host of the show Reilly and her side-kick Geoff are doing a meta-play on the known elements of the genre. With each joke you are reminded of the same-old-same-old but you can clearly sense a deeper ironic humor in them, it's a Trailer Park Boy-ification of classic review improv comedy. The rap segments at the end for example are done without any flow or rhythm as an innuendo to the skilled artists before them. Less an attempt to copy, this show adapts the format by subverting its humor. The unfunniness becomes funny in reflection to itself. And to top it all off, the show doesn't run any ads. If that isn't a statement, what is?
5 Stars!
Very funny podcast. You should review district courts. They always have extremely entertaining reviews on google.
