Found this podcast by coincidence while browsing the app and was immediately hooked. I just listened to all 7 seasons nonstop in 1 week. At home. At work. In the car. At university. I just couldn’t stop.
Amazing content, especially the first season. I can't wait to watch Alex Inc!
This Podcast freaking rules!

I first came to Gimlet through their show Homecoming. Some friends of mine started making audio dramas and I wanted to know more about the landscape of similar productions out there.
I went on to listen to Reply All which has been my favorite podcast ever since, it still is.
But I LOVED season 1 of Startup and the regular updates inside Gimlet Media ever since. Beside being a clever pr gimmick, I think this transparent observation into the company constitutes a good model of ethical practice that reflects positively on Gimlet Media beyond the scope of this podcast alone.
The one strong criticism I have about this show dates back to season two. I found the girls behind DatingRing to talk about dating in quite a conservative heteronormative way despite their stated intent to also work for queer clients. I think the show failed to look more deeply into this issue.
DatingRing for example specifically stated as a failure for Tinder a statistic showing a low number of long term couples formed off the site. Nobody from Startup actually challenged the girls, questioning even for a second whether the success of online dating in the 2000s really needs to be for everybody to find a long term partner.
