To zoom in on maps of our home counties and states, to learn the Indigenous history of the lands we run on, to explore the crevices of our locales. No matter where we live, it's all we have and isn't that infinitely better than nothing?”   Links to Clare Gallagher Website https://clare.run/ Latest Blog post-Running amid ‘rona https://clare.run/2020/04/09/running-amid-rona/   STOKELY - A creative endeavour to ensure we continue to connect, listen, learn and evolve through the Art of Conversation.

Ep 47 Helena Norberg-Hodge - The Economics of Happiness

Linguist, author and film-maker, Helena Norberg-Hodge. Helena is the founder and director of the international non-profit organisation, Local Futures, a pioneer of the new economy movement, and the creator of World Localization Day. Her work, spanning almost half a century, has received the support of a wide range of international figures, including Jane Goodall and HH the Dalai Lama.   To provide greater context to this conversation and the work of Helena and Local Futures, we'd highly recommend watching two of Helena's films; Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh and ‘The Economics of Happiness’. Both are incredible award-winning documentaries. And a lot of conversation during this conversation was predicated on these two pieces of film.   And finally, her most recent book, Local is Our Future: Steps to an Economics of Happiness, outlines how a systemic economic shift from global to local can address the world’s social, economic, ecological and spiritual crises.    Links for Helena Norberg-Hodge Website- https://www.localfutures.org/ Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/localfutures_/ Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/LocalFutures.TheEconomicsofHappiness YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/user/ISECeconofhappiness We invite you to join us in acknowledging the traditional custodians upon the lands where this podcast is created and listened to. And pay respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.
