From a young age, I have always been in awe of the natural world, the fashion industry and what lies beyond the veil. It wasn’t until recently that I was able to put these elements into context and begin to understand how it is all interconnected. How what I felt in my childhood, this thread of connectedness and intrigue, was a call to something far greater than I could have imagined. The Sustainably LB Podcast brings all those elements together. And while this podcast focuses on the fashion industry, I often speak of sustainability as a whole. Together, we will unfuck this.

    This episode of Sustainably LB is a solo episode. I haven’t done one of these in a while. But I believe this topic to be of utmost importance this holiday season.  To be honest, this conversation is always important, and these tips extend to all aspects of shopping, not strictly during the crazed overconsumption narrative of the holiday shopping season.     Nicole Daberkow Designer and Owner of Elsie’s Attic - The Story of Clothes, Let the Journey Inspire You, There is No Such Thing as Away

    For this episode of Sustainably LB, I got to hold space with Nicole Daberkow, Designer and Owner of Elsie’s Attic. After working in the creative design space for over a decade, Nicole decided that it was time to trust the universal nudges and shift her career to slow fashion and design. Her love of the sacred nature of sewing and creating unique pieces led her to create her own sustainable fashion brand built upon doing more with what we already have.     For this episode of Sustainably LB, I got to hold space with Tori Cates, Certified Reiki Master and Founder of Satori 23. If you’ve been a follower of the podcast from the beginning, you might remember Tori from our first interview about her sustainable, witchy fashion brand, Potion 23. Since that interview, Tori and I have formed a beautiful friendship and I have had the privilege to watch her practice of creating magic with her hands evolve from the intentionality and love worked into every piece of Potion 23 to working that same energy a different way through her healing modalities with Satori 23.  We are moving into a new way of healing and care. One that expands our perception beyond what we can see. Because, in truth, we are so much more than meets the eye anyway and it is about time humanity caught up.     Nadia Estefania Traditional Healer - Curiosity Over Judgement, Holding Space to Expand, Clearing the Channel

    For this episode of Sustainably LB, I got to hold space with Nadia Estefania, Traditional Healer and Founder of Nadia Estefania Ayahuasca Retreats in Ecuador. From her former life in tech and living the perceived dream in NYC, to leading soul-centered rituals and ceremonies in Ecuador, each step along her path has led her back to her truth and who she knew she was all along. I think many of us are just starting to realize that our soul has always been in the driver seat if we can just follow the call and remain committed to our most authentic selves. Easier said than done, I know. But there are so many tools and gifts that are just within our grasp if we simply have the courage to change the narrative within and break free from the chains of our conditioning.     For this episode of Sustainably LB, I got to share space with Joelle Tangen, Designer and Owner of La Jolie Joelle. After learning about the overwhelmingly unsustainable nature of the fashion industry in college, Joelle sought to pave her own way by focusing on sustainability and what that niche is for her. Her love of nature and creating has led her to curate her own fashion line, build upcycled art outside of the realm of clothing and had her creating sustainable drag for Pattie Gonia.    I am so grateful that I got the chance to sit with Joelle and chat about how sustainability manifests in different ways and how we are constantly learning and leveling up in an industry that focuses, almost entirely, on the bottom line. Her particular focus in the sustainability realm is human rights. After the first time I met Heather, I was enchanted by her knowledge and the way she spoke with such eloquence when discussing tough issues. The entire time Selina was sharing her story and her experience in the fashion industry, I was spellbound. I mean, I was on the edge of my seat hanging on every word. And it isn’t because she shares things about the industry that I don’t know. But she shared her story in such a way that reminded me that you can always change the narrative and life has a funny way of bringing you right where you need to be.
