    The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest (2/2)

    Hello dear ones, Welcome to the fourth episode of our season about heroes, their stories, their myths and their influence to this day. In this episode we take a look at the consequences of the Varus battle. We talk about Arminius, his future life and compare him with Siegfried, the famous hero of the Nibelungssage. We also consider how both figures were presented in the literature and what influence their stories had on later generations.     The new episode of the Blótcast is here. This season is all about heroes, their stories, their myths, and their influence up to the present day. This episode is about the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. We discuss the most important Roman sources that record the events in the Teutoburg Forest, the culture and warfare of the Cherusci, and their tribal beliefs. Afterwards, we take a look at Arminius—his career, his resistance against Rome, his historic victory, and his political failure. A second episode will follow in two weeks!
