The West Wing Thing

This podcast is an absolute delight. People had recommended I watched The West Wing for years and when I finally started (during CoVid, of course) I couldn’t understand how everyone was advocating a show that was so jingoistic and supportive of US imperialism. Not to mention the treatment of women and BIPoC. People who I really respect had told me to watch it and, having watched quite a bit of it, and feeling very confused, I came across this podcast. It’s the perfect companion for people to engage with this very influential show while not being gaslit into believing you’re wrong to feel uncomfortable about the shows terrible politics.

I love these guys, I love this podcast, every bit as much as I hate The West Wing. (Note: that’s saying a lot.) I’d only ever seen one or two episodes of tww before, but heard it referred to (eg on Chapo Trap House) often enough that I had an idea what it would be like. Now I’ve been lent the boxed set by a well-meaning friend for quarantine bingeing, and in combination with this podcast, well, I’m having a weirdly great time. Josh, Dave: Thank you for your service!
