I have only discovered this podcast today (it was advertised in another Vox Media Podcast I listen to).
So far, I have listened to three episodes (SOS, A needle in a haystack, and the espouse about the treasure chest). I have laughed, cried, and felt my heart swell with joy and love while listening to all three episodes.
The storytelling and the raw emotion shared in each episode deeply moves me.
At times I had to stop listening to them for a brief moment to think about the people, their experiences and the animals (in each episode.
Each episode made me remember and reflect on my own experiences:
More than a decade ago as a teenager, my friend and me narrowly escaped having to spend the night in the Swiss Alps and probably freezing to death on a foggy, snowy, and rainy Halloween night.
A decade ago my beloved Spaniel got lost in the countryside while on his first and only (!) walk with a dog walker while I was on vacation (He was fortunately found alive and well by a driver near a busy road after a couple of hours 🙏🏻).
I have noticed that in almost each story I have listened to that I can find a thought that is shared, a feeling, a decision, or an experience that I have also had which I believe to be a wonderful thing and a major achievement of the storytelling of this program.
I will make my way through each and every episode in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you to all of those who have and will contribute to this program!
Listening to it and reflecting on the stories shared, makes me believe in the humanity of our species besides everything going on.
With love from Germany 💚
