    When you want to change so badly and somehow still can't

    For years I was convinced I simply wasn't disciplined enough. That I didn't want it enough. That I had no willpower. Today I know that that was never the problem. In this week's episode I'm sharing something deeply personal: the health condition I spent most of my life hiding, how I ignored it until I physically couldn't walk anymore, and what I've since learned about why we avoid the things we most want to change. We go into cognitive dissonance and the incredibly creative ways our brain justifies anything, defensive avoidance and why the motivation to change never seems to last, why pressure and being hard on yourself makes it worse rather than better, and what actually helped me break the cycle. It feels like self-awareness, but it's the most limiting sentence you can say, because the moment you decide something about you is fixed, you stop trying to change it.     Why delusional self belief is a superpower (the neuroscience is wild)

    "You have to be freakin delusional!!", is what I see all over my Instagram. This delulu is the solulu trend might seem ridiculous, but I went down a neuroscience rabbit hole — and what I found completely changed how I feel about it. It turns out believing before you see it isn't naive. Your brain is doing something real, and kind of incredible, when you do it. But I also found the catch. The exact point where "delulu" stops helping you and starts holding you back. And that part surprised me the most. I hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as I did researching it!     Mid year reset: the pep talk you didn’t know you needed

    We're half way through this year, and I want us to make the absolute most out of these next 6 months. I want to be honest with you in this one: the last few weeks have not been my best. Nothing horrible happened, I'm fine, I'm healthy, everything's okay, but I'd quietly let myself drift. Skipping workouts. Binge-watching shows. Calling things "self-care" that had actually become self-sabotage. And the frustration of knowing I could do better while not doing better was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I've sat with this year.
