Mapping the Microbiome with Martha Carlin! 1037

Send us Fan Mail Martha Carlin is not your typical founder. Driven by a deep love for people and the planet, she has emerged as a thought leader, innovator, and out-of-the-box problem-solver in the field of microbiome research. Martha's unique perspective connects the dots from soil to food to our guts and our brains, unraveling the complex web of connections that influence our health. What sets Martha apart is her heartfelt dedication to solving complex health challenges. Her unwavering commitment to understanding our evolving health issues has propelled her into the realm of citizen science, particularly in the microbiome and Parkinson's disease fields. Martha's journey is driven by applying her systems thinking approach to microbiome science and its potential to impact human health. Her husband John' s Parkinson's diagnosis in 2002 ignited a passion to delve deeper into causal factors like diet and lifestyle as well as holistic/alternative ideas that deserve further study. Years later the connection published research about the gut bacteria and the two phenotypes of Parkinson's disease was a Eureka moment. Inspired by this groundbreaking research from Dr. Filip Scheperjans in 2014, Martha founded The BioCollective, a research company focused on mapping health. Witnessing John' s improved symptoms while taking her product Sugar Shift solidified Martha's conviction to bring this transformative product to market, empowering individuals to take control of their health and providing a reliable source of knowledge to support their well-being. Man Flow Yoga with Dean Pohlman! 1036

Send us Fan Mail Dean Pohlman is a men's fitness expert who created Man Flow Yoga, a fitness-centric yoga program designed specifically for men, in 2012. A former college athlete, Dean designed a no-nonsense, functional approach to yoga tailored specifically for the male anatomy to help men restore their bodies, improve functional strength, flexibility, and mobility, and promote longevity. As a bestselling author and creator, his book, Yoga Fitness for Men has sold more than 50,000 copies, and his Body by Yoga DVD series has sold 120,000+ units. He has created more than 800 workouts and targeted programs, with a 4.9-star Trustpilot rating from nearly 200,000 customers. Dean has been featured in Men’s Health, GQ, and Muscle & Fitness, and is a trusted coach who trains men 40+ to eliminate pain, prevent injury, and achieve peak athletic performance as they age. Traditionally, fitness culture has focused primarily on strength training, muscle building, and endurance. A byproduct of that regimen, particularly as we age, is frequently chronic pain, tight joints, and declining movement leading to injury. A longtime trainer and coach, Dean knows that mobility is missing half of strength training. Rather than allowing his clients to rely on stretching alone or give in to accepting the aches and pains as the years tick by, he teaches men how to develop active mobility, improve joint function, and build the movement capacity necessary to support long-term physical independence. Overcoming Eating Disorders on Carnivore with Kelsey Buchalter! 1035

Send us Fan Mail Kelsey Buchalter cycled through hospitals, medications, and every conventional treatment psychiatry could offer for twenty years to treat anorexia, bulimia, and anxiety. None of it touched the underlying problem. What finally helped her was a single instruction from a nutritionist: eat only red meat and eggs for ten days. She is now a health coach at Ovadia Heart Health, and recently sat down with Dr. Philip Ovadia and Jack Heald on the Stay Off My Operating Table Podcast to trace the biological mechanism behind that shift and to challenge a premise that most mental health experts never question- that the mind can be repaired while the body remains inflamed and malnourished. She draws a sharp distinction between disordered eating and dietary intervention, one that has nothing to do with what's on the plate and everything to do with why it's there. Before psychology can do its work, biology has to be stabilized first, and for Kelsey, that meant confronting the idea that her mental illness was never a character flaw but a body in crisis. Kelsey is also a young singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, nutrition advisor, and host of The Human Theatre Podcast. Kelsey’s music creates an intimate, soulful, and soft-pop ambiance and although her original music is her main focus, she does include selecting cover songs in her act. Kelsey is accompanied by her brother, Josh Buchalter who is the lead guitarist for popular 5-piece rock band Rock Steady. Optimizing Health and Hormone Replacement with Dr. Michael Fortunato! 1031

Send us Fan Mail Mike Fortunato, MD spent nearly two decades in conventional medicine, ultimately as a board-certified anesthesiologist trusted with life-or-death decisions every single day. But behind the career, his own life was quietly unraveling. His body was breaking down. Chronic pain. Shingles. A severe ulcer. Like many of the patients he now works with, he looked functional on the outside while internally feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unlike himself. After realizing the medical system had failed him as a patient too, he was dismissed despite very real symptoms because his labs came back "normal”. Dr. Mike began restoring his hormones and rebuilding his physical health. But physically improving didn't solve the deeper disconnection he still felt from himself and his life. Today, Dr. Mike works with both men and women at a rare intersection most physicians never speak about openly: the connection between biology, emotional health, identity, and the way people show up in their relationships, work, and everyday lives. Patients come to him when everything else has failed. What follows is rarely just physical improvement. It's people reconnecting with the version of themselves that was always there — just waiting to be found.
