Daily Danish Pod is a language learning podcast for absolute beginners, but learners of all levels can benefit from our focus on pronunciation and word and phrase variations.  Whether you've just moved to Denmark, are planning a visit, or simply want to build confidence speaking Danish, we're here to help. Our goal isn't to make you fluent overnight. Instead, we want to help you take those important first steps and give you the confidence to start speaking. Many people aren't ready to chat with Danish friends on day one, but you can absolutely learn how to order food, ask simple questions, and navigate daily life. Each episode builds on the last, introducing new vocabulary while constantly revisiting previous words and phrases through repetition. You can jump into any episode, but listening in order will give you the best learning experience. So come with us on your Danish language journey.     Making a New Friend - S1 Ep4

    In this episode, you'll learn how to introduce yourself when meeting someone for the first time. We'll practice asking and answering questions about your name, where you live, and where you're from. By the end of the episode, you'll be able to introduce yourself and get to know someone new. We'll also continue working on Danish pronunciation by practicing the soft d and stød, two sounds that are essential for sounding more natural in Danish. This episode also introduces the Danish pronunciation feature known as 'stød', one of the sounds that often makes Danish sound different from other languages. Pronunciation Point This episode introduces stød, a pronunciation feature found in many Danish words. Stød can make a word sound shorter or slightly interrupted and is one of the characteristics that gives Danish its unique sound. Examples: Hej - Hi Haj - Shark Although the words sound similar, haj contains stød while hej does not. Don't worry if you don't master stød right away.
