The Newley appointed Sheriff Horcock demands to know what these other lawmen are doing in town. When it turns out they have come to inform the Rayburn and Paquito families that their missing sons have been murdered by Cody Picker, Jimmy and Marion feel they have to tell Horcock what they know.

Horcock has told his old Confederate colleagues he wants nothing to do with them. He won't help them against  revenger vigilantes from the 31st Infantry, so why won't they leave town? What are they waiting for?
