    Episode 5: Premodern Psychatog and Welder Survival

    In this episode, Francis and Jasper talk about Premodern following Francis' top-8 success at a local tournament. He gives a rundown of his experience playing Psychatog and reflects on what he learnt about the deck and the format more generally.  Jasper has also been playing Premodern, testing lists in search of a deck to pick up. He seems to have hit on something he really enjoys, Welder Survival, and waxes lyrical about the range of fun gameplay and deckbuilding options.  In a departure from the usual Eternal-format discussion, Jasper shouts out Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed, a great recent event showcasing a Standard format that has enticed him to build his first Standard deck in a decade. Moving on to Legacy, Francis and Jasper have both had a chance to play the blue-red Repurposing Bay Painter list they discussed last episode, and share some thoughts on potential changes to the decklist. They wrap up with a brief consideration of what might get banned in the February 9th announcement, but conclude that Legacy bans are unlikely.     Episode 4: Lorwyn Eclipsed & Premodern Parallax Tide ban

    In this episode, Francis and Jasper take a look at Magic’s latest set, Lorwyn Eclipsed, and evaluate some of the cards cropping up in Legacy. Starting with Hexing Squelcher, they discuss a few of the different archetypes trying out the new card: Storm, Sneak and Show, and Goblins.  Beyond that, an innovative Aluren list with Formidable Speaker has caught Francis’ eye, as has the new elemental incarnation Vibrance, while Jasper raises Catharsis and Kirol, Attentive First-Year for discussion after their appearance in a red-white Energy deck.  Moving on from Lorwyn, your hosts briefly shout-out a tournament finish for their blue-black Painter list from episode 2 before getting a bit lost in the sauce discussing Jasper’s ideas for a blue-red Repurposing Bay version of Painter.  The final topic for the episode is Premodern and the recent banning of Parallax Tide. Francis and Jasper share some thoughts on why they agree with the ban, but also try to understand the mindset of those opposed to it.     Episode 3: Unbans in Legacy?

    In this episode, Francis and Jasper pick up where they left off last episode with a bit more cube chat. Responding to an LSV video in which he talks about over- and underrated cards, they focus on Library of Alexandria and Fastbond and discuss what it takes to make those cards good and when you should draft them.  Moving on to Legacy, your hosts take some time to reflect on the format in general and whether it would benefit from any bans or unbans. Beginning with the latter, they run through a list of suggested unbans which run the gamut of plausible to potentially format-destroying.  With a particular consideration of play patterns and game experiences, they then turn their attention to Oops All Spells, currently experiencing a surge in play and boasting an impressive conversion rate into the top 8s of recent Legacy Challenges. Francis and Jasper then both give their thoughts on whether Tamiyo or The One Ring should see a ban, while remaining positive about the improvements seen to the format since the banning of Entomb and Nadu. To wrap up, they have a chat about what they’re likely to play at their next local weekly, with Francis previewing a new GB midrange brew he’s been working on.     Episode 2: Second Light

    In this episode of Eternal Horizons, Jasper and Francis sit down on Christmas Eve to look back on their recent experiences at December's London Legacy Monthly, where they both registered the same Lady Octopus Painter list. They talk through how the deck came together, how it performed across the rounds, and what stood out in an event full of Orcish Bowmasters.  The conversation then moves to European Legacy Masters 2026, touching on the newly announced date, previous experiences, and the upcoming UK qualifiers in Bath, Derby and London.  The second half of the episode turns to the MTGO Vintage Cube, exploring the recent changes made for this iteration as Francis mourns the loss of Cryptic Command.     Episode 1: Sunrise

    In this first episode of Eternal Horizons, Francis and Jasper kick things off by talking about how they got into Magic before discussing their experiences at Eternal Weekend EU in Lucca. They reflect on their early days in Magic, discovering a shared fondness for casting Cruel Ultimatum, before discussing Legacy’s history in the time that they’ve been playing it, including Miracles, Painter, and a few major bannings.  The second half of the episode focuses on Eternal Weekend as your hosts muse on the beautiful city of Lucca and give a breakdown of their team trios performance, plus an account of Francis’ top 32 run with Jeskai Gifts Breach in Vintage.
