EP 86: Unbiased Science! Cutting through misinformation when it comes to health and medical headlines

Getting to the facts–and cutting out bias–is something we are big fans of at Mo News.

In our latest episode, Mosheh is joined by Dr. Jess Steier from the Unbiased Science Podcast to unpack the complexities of interpreting scientific and health studies.

Together, we explore the common pitfalls of media reporting on health, including what we know about the latest studies on organic produce, aspartame, and GMOs, among other hot topics. This conversation helps listeners better understand the nuances behind the headlines in scientific reporting, and how you can better read between the lines.

We also talk about eastern vs. western medicine as well as growing public distrust in institutions like the FDA and CDC, and how some of the agencies’ mistakes during COVID led to the current situation.

EP 85: Redefining “Stay At Home Moms” - Talking Career, Family, Relationships with Mother Untitled’s Neha Ruch

EP 85: Redefining “Stay At Home Moms” - Talking Career, Family, Relationships with Mother Untitled’s Neha Ruch

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, this episode dives into the state of moms in America with an interview with Neha Ruch, founder of Mother Untitled (MU). She is also the author of forthcoming book, "The Power Pause,” looking at redefining stay at home motherhood.
Neha talks to Mosheh about how the perception of stay at home moms has transformed from a traditional archetype to a dynamic role that blends family life with personal and professional fulfillment.
We delve into new data MU has collected from thousands of moms across the country, with a focus on how they balance professional, family and mental health goals. The conversation focuses on how women are taking intentional breaks in their careers to focus on family without losing sight of their own ambitions. It is no longer a black or white (full-time work or full-time SAHM) phenomenon, but there are many shades of gray when it comes to modern work and family.

EP 84: Finding Hope In Climate Change: A Conversation About The Future

Record-breaking heat, storms, rising sea levels, and melting glaciers are among the impacts of climate change.
But today’s conversation focuses on the actions that can serve as an antidote to anxiety.
In his new book, Life As We Know It (Can Be), CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir says we can counter fear with knowledge and hope.
His book explores stories from the front lines of environmental change, providing both sobering insights and hopeful perspectives on innovative solutions, including where progress is being made.
The conversation with Mosheh highlights Weir’s journeys around the world, sheds light on practical climate solutions and also critically examines where the climate change movement has failed. We break down the good, the bad, and the surprising, in this just-the-facts conversation.

EP 83: Call the Midwife: A Conversation About Maternal Healthcare

As part of our series of behind the scenes podcasts about Alex and Mosheh’s pregnancy journey in 2023, we spoke with one of the midwives who cared for her.
This episode features an interview with Christina McPherson, a certified nurse-midwife, about the midwifery care model, and the state of maternal health in the US. We discuss everything from the increasing C-section rates in the US, the history of why the use of midwives is much higher in the rest of the world vs. the US and the overall holistic care model. It turns out that we conducted this conversation just days before Alex delivered Baby Olivia.
Alex shares a lot of resources and tips during the conversation, which she started putting together here. (Resources Page). She also has saved fertility & pregnancy story highlights on her Instagram page @alsall. You can learn more about midwives at www.midwife.org.

EP 81: The Challenges of Being First Lady: A Deep-Dive Into White House Life

So much news coverage is devoted to the president, but it turns out that first ladies have had an incredibly influential and undercovered role in many White Houses. At the same time, it is an often thankless job that receives a lot of scrutiny.

Mosheh sits down with New York Times White House correspondent and author, Katie Rogers, exploring her new book, ‘American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady.’

In our conversation, we dive straight into Jill Biden's role in the White House, especially when it comes to managing crises, from international wars to the struggles of Hunter Biden–including what it means that she is the family “grudge holder.”

This edition also delves into how several other recent first ladies—Melania Trump, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton–how each viewed their roles over the last 30 years, and some surprising revelations about their time in the White House.
