    Jaqueline Cedar: The Expanding Role of the Artist

    Jaqueline Cedar (b. 1985 Los Angeles, CA) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MFA in 2009 from Columbia University and her BA in 2007 from the University of California, Los Angeles. I find myself sliding between slowness and speed in my perception of the world around me. Repeated forms create the illusion of blurred movement. Small details occupy the corners of my peripheral vision, pulling me closer in and simultaneously compelling a step back. The paintings picture intimate spaces made visible with a vulnerability that invites connection via the familiar and uncanny.

    Jim Condron: Gathering Meaning

    Jim Condron lives and works in Baltimore, MD and Brooklyn, NY. He earned his MFA at the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art and a BA in Art and English from Colby College, and also studied at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. His work has been shown nationally and internationally in galleries and museums, and is held in corporate, university, public, and private collections.

    Emily Mae Smith: Technology of Connection

    Emily Mae Smith (b. 1979, Austin, Texas) creates sly, humorous, and riveting compositions which nod to art historical movements such as Symbolism and Art Nouveau, though with a distinctly 21st century spin. Her genre-defying paintings speak through a vocabulary of signs and symbols addressing timely subjects including gender, class, and violence. Smith’s paintings tackle art history’s phallocentric myths and create imagery for subjectivities absent in visual culture, specifically the feminist perspective. Smith’s exhibition of new paintings, Transit of Venus, is currently on view at Petzel, 520 West 25th street, New York, through October 31, 2026. This marks Smith’s second solo show at the gallery and follows her 2024 survey exhibition at the Magritte Museum in Brussels, where the artist’s work was curated in dialogue with René Magritte’s oeuvre.

    Matthew Ronay: The Inner Life of Forms

    New York-based artist Matthew Ronay (b. 1976, Louisville, Kentucky) is best known for his chromatic, handmade wood sculptures that suggest unearthly landscapes with futuristic architectures and bodily processes like digestion and aging. His fourth solo exhibition at Casey Kaplan, Cold Meat, Cake, and a Variety of All the Finest Fruits in Season; is on view through Saturday, October 24th.

    Peter Halley: Conduits of Culture

    Peter Halley, born in 1953, New York City, came to prominence as a central figure in the Neo-Conceptualist movement of the 1980s. He uses his visual lexicon to examine the technological forces that regulate daily life. Known for his use of fluorescent colors and synthetic Roll-a-Tex surfaces, Halley embraces materials that are anti-naturalistic and commercially manufactured.    Halley is currently presenting new paintings at Galleria Mazzoli in Modena, Italy, as well as Exploding Cell, a new series of digital prints, at Triennale Milano in Milan. This month, he has also created site-specific installations for Le Consortium (Dijon) and the Addison Gallery of American Art (Andover, Massachusetts), extending his ongoing exploration of architecture, materiality, and pictorial space.

    Christopher K. Ho: Biedermeier Moment

    Christopher K. Ho (b. 1974 Hong Kong) is a speculative artist based in New York and Hong Kong. He is a maker, organizer, and teacher. His current solo exhibition Waterloo! at Ellie Rines Gallery draws parallels between the Biedermeier period and today, and extends his decades-long interest in what politics in art can look like.

    Alice Tippit: Language, Image & Ambiguity

    Alice Tippit is an artist who lives and works in Chicago, IL. Embracing ambiguity and contradiction, Tippit invites viewers to consider the myriad ways in which we construct meaning through language and form as well as the coexistence of multiple interpretations. She has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions at  Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, New York in 2026, Rodolphe Janssen Galerie, Brussels in 2025, and Patron Gallery, Chicago in 2024. Her first institutional solo exhibition was mounted in 2026 by the DePaul Art Museum in Chicago.

    Jerry Blackman

    Jerry Blackman (b.1984, Brooklyn) is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He has had several solo shows of his work in New York City and is looking forward to his forthcoming exhibition at Peninsula where he is represented. Blackman has also participated in numerous group shows nationally and internationally in cities including Taipei. Vienna, New Haven, and others. Additionally, Blackman has also curated several group shows online and in New York City. He received his BFA from Cooper Union in 2006, and his MFA from Yale in 2014.
