Watches & Wonders 2024 debrief, including Rolex, Patek Philippe and Bremont’s new look

The OT: team has been re-united in Melbourne, but there are still plenty of Watches & Wonders to discuss! Andy and Felix chat about the latest releases from Rolex, Tudor (Andy thinks the pink chronograph works) and Patek Philippe (Felix has an unconventional favourite). Finally, they dig into the biggest topic of the fair, Bremont’s new look and new Terra Nova collection. Plus, they also muse about the possibilities of a WWG x WWE crossover event for 2025.

Our take on Cartier at Watches & Wonders 2024

Our take on Cartier at Watches & Wonders 2024

Andy is on the ground at Watches & Wonders in Geneva, and he’s only got one thing on his mind — Cartier. We have a chat about all the latest releases from the Maison, including the Privé Tortue and the Privé Tortue Monopoussoir Chronograph, as well as the newest additions to the Santos de Cartier and Santos-Dumont lines (including the mind-bending Santos-Dumont Rewind ). We even delve into the finer details of jewellery watches, like the Reflection de Cartier and the numerous animal-inspired pieces. If you want to know what’s up with Cartier, you’re in the right place.

Hot Takes 2024 feat. Tudor, Cartier + the return of big watches

Hot Takes 2024 feat. Tudor, Cartier + the return of big watches

This week’s episode contains more spice than Dune 1 and 2 combined — welcome to the first hot takes episode of 2024. Fuelled by the hottest takes from the OT: discord, Andy and Felix debate some of the most burning (and a few of the most trivial) issues the watch industry faces in 2024. From thought-provoking claims like ‘if Tudor dropped the Snowflake hand they’d be more successful’ and ‘the swing back to big watches is inevitable’ through to less earth-shattering takes like ‘120 bezel clicks are too many’, Andy and Felix wade fearlessly through the most controversial of takes.

Jenni Elle on Audemars Piguet and Watches & Wonders

Jenni Elle on Audemars Piguet and Watches & Wonders

It’s been a hot minute, but we’re excited to have the one and only Jenni Elle back on the podcast. In case you’re not across her work, Jenni Elle is one of the biggest personalities on watch YouTube and a genuinely lovely person. The big news from Jenni Elle’s side of the world is that she’s had a child, so obviously, we talk about the pros and cons of passing it on to the next generation. In addition to the joys of a baby’s first Patek, we chat with Jenni about Watches & Wonders, including a bit of chat about what we can expect from everyone’s favourite hype brands, Rolex and Patek Philippe. But before that, we interrogated the new white-dialled Speedmaster, and argue over the finer points of whether or not a safe watch is inherently boring. We also cover the new releases from Audemars Piguet, including John Mayer’s Crystal Sky Perpetual Calendar.

Louis Erard’s CEO Manuel Emch on the power of collabs

Louis Erard’s CEO Manuel Emch on the power of collabs

For the last instalment in the Dubai Files, Felix sits down with Manuel Emch, the creative mind behind the resurgence of Louis Erard, which has evolved over the last few years from a middle-of-the-road value proposition into a powerhouse of collaboration. Enlisting help from people like Alain Silberstein and Konstantin Chaykin has seen Louis Erard become one of the most interesting names in watchmaking at the moment. All thanks to the Emch, a man with a reputation for putting out fires. Felix finds out about Emch, his approach to watches and what might happen to Louis Erard when collabs go out of favour. Before that, Andy and Felix chat about their trip to Sydney for an evening with Kennedy, and the joys of soapbox racers.

Ming Thein, founder of Horologer Ming, talks design and lightweight watches

Ming Thein, founder of Horologer Ming, talks design and lightweight watches

The Dubai Files keep on giving, as this week we’ve got Felix’s chat with Ming Thein, the self-described Supreme Overlord of Horologer Ming, one of the most exciting and prolific young watch brands, who have racked up 62 references in only six years. Felix and Ming spend a lot of time chatting about the incredible new Ming LW.01, which Ming believes is the lightest mechanical watch ever made, coming in at 8.8 grams for the manual and 10.8 grams for the automatic. Beyond this incredible feat, they also discuss the joys and challenges of being a young, nimble watch brand in this day and age.
Closer to home, the big news is that Andy will be jetting off to his first-ever Watches & Wonders and is currently knee-deep in scheduling shenanigans. If you have any Geneva tips, let us know!
