Tell, No Show The Lake Radio

"Tell, No Show" is an ongoing series of works for radio in which we ask an artist to present a piece of art that has, in one way or another, had an impact on their practice.

In this third episode, you will have the pleasure of listening to the artist Nancy Lupo. Nancy will take us to Florence and into the Pitti Palace, the former home of the notorious Medici family.

In the Pitti Palace, Nancy seeks out a set of ivory objects turned on a lathe into the shape of cups, vases, or trophies. These ivory objects are dated to the 16th century and were commissioned by the Medici family, which leads Nancy to contemplate the notion of soft power in the Renaissance versus today.

Nancy Lupo is an artist who primarily works as a sculptor. She is currently residing in Los Angeles, where she teaches at UCLA. As it was put somewhere about Nancy's work, "More than panic, spiraling is something deeper.”

In this second episode, you will have the pleasure of listening to artist Jeuno Kim, who will introduce us to a performance only experienced once, quite some time ago, by the American artist, filmmaker, and choreographer Yvonne Rainer, under the title "Again? What Now?” performed by the Swedish dance company Weld at Malmø Kunsthal.

This episode is therefore an exercise in both memory and an attempt to transform a durational physical experience into a coherent piece of language.

Through shifts in texts, mediums, career paths, and ways of loving, Jeuno takes us through the importance of good teachers, privilege, ice skating, coming out later in life, as well as the unfortunate piece of music, “Bolero."

Jeuno Kim is an artist, filmmaker, and feminist theologist. She is also the head of the MBA program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.

In this first episode of the third season, you will have the pleasure of listening to American artist Chadwick Rantanen discuss his experience with the work of the American artist Mike Kelley, specifically focusing on Kelley's work "Craft Morphology Flow Chart" from 1991.

This episode takes its cue from the cuddly toys often encountered in Kelley's work and, through them, brings us from the flea markets of the Midwest to the counterculture haven of California in the '70s, '80s, and '90s, seeking out the rare and noble entanglement of the specific and the convenient.

Chadwick Rantanen is an artist living in Los Angeles. He primarily works in sculpture, and his work often involves a subtle appropriation of materials typically associated with the medical industry or domestic spaces, along with the subversion of icons and designs.

Tell, No Show sæson 2 er en programserie i fire afsnit om kunst, hvor en række af samtidens billedkunstnere udfolder et værk efter eget valg.

I dette tredje afsnit skal du møde maleren og kunstneren (Bogstav) Poul Pedersen, som vil fortælle om værket ”Det Lodrette Alfabet” af den danske kunstner Anders Bonnesen. Værket giver anledning til at tale om konceptkunst og om hvorfor det er vigtigt at kunne holde sin kunst ren, hvilket Poul Pedersen indrømmer, at han slet ikke kan.

I dette seriens andet afsnit skal du møde billedkunstneren Mette Rasmussen, som i 2020 tog afgang fra Det Fynske Kunstakademi. Mette fortæller egentlig om Johan Thomas Lundbyes maleri ’Kolås Skov på Vejrhøj’ fra 1846, men kommer hurtigt til at tale om Lundbyes mindre kendte udgivelse ’Trolddom og Huletanker’ hvorigennem Johan Thomas og Mettes fælles interesse for nisser åbenbarer sig. Herfra går den vilde jagt via Kristian Zarhtmanns passion for Christian 4.'s uægte datter Leonora Christina til P. C. Skovgaards upassende interesse for Lundbyes kæreste Georgia Skov og tilbage til Kolås skovs efterårsmood.

I dette første afsnit skal du møde personen Kristine Kemp. Kristine er billedkunstner, tidligere professor ved Det Fynske Kunstakademi og tæppehandler, og hun vil i dette afsnit udfolde et værk af den tyske billedkunstner og idefontæne Martin Kippenberger.

Hvilket værk der er tale om er ikke så ligetil, da Kristine er usikker på, om værket overhovedet eksisterer, eller om det er hende selv, der har dannet et drømmebillede. Faktisk skal vi med Kristine på en rejse 30-40 år tilbage i hendes erindring for at finde detaljer om værket.
