A lighthearted conversation by runners about their lives as runners and the issues that are interesting or important to them and guests of the show. TJM is meant to be a companion to you as you run. Think of us as your running partners on days when you just need some friends to get you out on an easy run. The show is composed of 10 segments, one for each mile, and every 10 minutes or so we move on to the next topic, to keep things interesting. Among the hosts' experience are ten 100-mile finishes, dozens of half and full marathons, plenty of 50-milers, and some speedy 5ks and a BQ (and a handful of DNFs).
Your host, Scotty Kummer is an attorney, doberman owner and quite possibly the most painstakingly average runner known to man. Scott has stumbled through numerous plus 4 and 5 hour marathons. He's DNF'ed the 150 mile, 100 mile, 50 mile and marathon distance. Okay, and he is a member of the Order of the Hrimthurs for having completed the Arrowhead 135, the Tuscobia 160 and the Actif Epica 120K in the same calendar year (more people have walked on the moon) as well as finshed 50+ ultramarathons including several 100 mile races. He was once kicked out of an ultra runing group due to allegations of cyber-bullying. He has a habit of offending people by accident while trying to help them. He is a co-founder of the Flatlander Ultrarunners in Chicagoland which has rapidly grown to over 2000 members. He came up with the idea for Ten Junk Miles after becoming frustrated with hearing interview after interview of Scott Jurek and deciding that runners needed more: more discussions of bathroom breaks that went wrong, pacer stories from hell, DNF reports, stories of getting lost on the trail and other related matters.

Customer Reviews
Here is 1 star review
The gang shows are never 10 segments of 10 minutes, often the guest is left out of the of the show, I never listen to podcasts when I run but do I while working, I don’t get the cursing/ like in some music it seems like lack of creativity. But it might be a reaction to the other running group they were a part of. the drinking well seems strange. You almost have to understand the American culture and the Americans lack of understanding of the rest of the world. And some of the things said about Europe, well most of the rest of the world, will seem uninformed and in some cases unintelligent. To bad the one international person is not on the show any more, the person that gave the show a little better insight on at least one other culture, was also the most mocked and teased because he did not understand US culture. But the the other people on the show seems to have no ideas about other cultures. Well Scott might have some. To bad there is no more Pakistan (I know he is Indian) culture on the show, back to only white people. And Scotts wife. It is a podcast for all runners but the gang always tries to get people to ring longer, a little strange. And there is never been a good why. And the glorification of just do hard things and you will for fill you life, and clime mountains then you will be really happy, what about after that mountain there will be another one what about after 5 k there will be a 10 k... 100 miles.... But all in vain if there is on why. “If you run with no purpose, you are just chasing the wind”. Adam has mostly got good inputs, Holly well.. seems she is mostly about drinking, well not true also caring the people souls not injure them self. Rachel seems to still be rebelling against her upbringing, but sometimes like the other people one the show makes fun of her she will speak like an expert on things she has on idea about. But I guess we all do that. Have not listened to the old shows, so They could be great or not so great. Know you like the long reviews so you got one and also 1 star. I probably should not listen to the show, and won’t say what I do for a job, well I think it is like the people I run with they would say the same crazy things. Scott like he’s abilities to ask the good questions and call people crazy and ask about the why. Could the why be lack of meaning in peoples lives? I think Scott in His life has experienced more of life’s meaning. And yes, I am one of the people that would not fit the show, not from the US, and a I that believes in Jesus. But I think you are hitting just the segment of people you are going for and giving them interesting stories and sometimes help to get running. So 1 star is more because you asked for it. Her you go 1.
