John Edward: Stop Trying to “Move On” After Loss (Use THIS Daily Practice to Make Peace Without the Answers)

Today, Jay welcomes internationally recognized psychic medium John Edward for an eye-opening conversation about grief, healing, and the survival of consciousness. John shares how people often come to him hoping for closure after losing a loved one, only to realize that what they truly find is connection. Rather than “fixing” grief, his work helps people recognize that love continues beyond the physical world and that healing comes not from moving on from loss, but from reframing how we see it. Through his own journey from skeptic to seeker, John illustrates how curiosity and openness can lead us to deeper truths about life and beyond. Together, Jay and John break down the biggest misconceptions about mediumship, especially the fine line between skepticism and cynicism. John shares why healthy skepticism can actually be a gateway to discovery, while cynicism closes the door before anything begins. He also walks through the scientific studies that have examined his abilities, how he receives information through clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience, and why validation is at the core of every reading.  John emphasizes that no one truly “needs” a reading, they need understanding. By reframing grief as the other side of love, he invites us to honor our emotions, say what matters while our loved ones are still here, and discover meaningful ways to carry their presence forward. From keeping traditions alive to sharing their stories, John reminds us that our connections don’t end, they endure when we choose to include those we’ve lost in our everyday lives. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Reframe Grief Into Growth How to Recognize Real Connection vs. Closure How to Tell If a Psychic Is Genuine How to Keep Loved Ones Present After Loss How to Talk About Death Without Fear How to Find Lessons Hidden in Grief How to Honor Your Loved One’s Legacy Grief may leave cracks in our hearts, yet those very cracks can become the places where light enters and strength is revealed. Each moment we choose to honor the past while embracing the present, we create space for deeper connection, renewed purpose, and lasting peace. Check out John’s latest book, Chasing Evil: Shocking Crimes, Supernatural Forces, and an FBI Agent’s Search for Hope and Justice. Family Systems Theory: The Invisible Force That Runs Your Relationships

Have you ever walked back into your parents' house and suddenly felt like you'd downloaded an old version of yourself? In today’s episode, Dr. Rick and Forrest explain why through one of the most influential frameworks in psychology: Family Systems Theory (FST).  FST argues that hidden rules govern the behavior of the groups we’re a part of, and when you know the rules it’s easier to see them in action. Rick and Forrest explore how systems replicate patterns of behavior, place people into specific roles, and manage anxiety through shifting alliances. They close with how we can become differentiated by building a stronger sense of self. Topics include balancing closeness and distance, triangulation, specific roles like the “golden child,” FST’s non-pathologizing stance, the intergenerational transmission of patterns, and building strong relationships outside the system. This episode includes references to self-harm. Key Topics:  0:00: Intro 2:19: What’s Family Systems Theory? 12:01: Overview of big concepts in FST 18:50: Family roles 25:19: How anxiety moves through a family system 36:42: The “identified patient” 46:51: Balancing compassion, agency, and responsibility 51:11: How healthy differentiation can disrupt a system 57:48: How to become more differentiated 1:11:33: Recap  Support the Podcast: We're on Patreon! Session 454: Black Single Mothers

Black single mothers have long been the subject of stereotypes, political debate, and cultural criticism. For decades, narratives in media and public discourse have framed them as the root of social problems rather than recognizing the complex realities of their lives, families, and communities. Today’s guest is writer and cultural critic Jamilah Lemieux, whose work has helped shape conversations about race, gender, and culture for more than a decade. Beginning her career in the Black feminist blogosphere, Jamilah has written and edited for many major publications and has become known for her sharp cultural commentary and advocacy for Black women and girls. In this conversation, we discuss her new book Black. Single. Mother., where she explores the realities of single motherhood through her own story as well as the stories of other Black women. We talk about the stigma attached to single mothers, the importance of community and co-parenting, how media narratives shape perceptions of Black families, and what it means to redefine family structures outside of traditional expectations. About the Podcast The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves. In this episode, we stop quitting when things get hard by building a mental “cookie jar” of proof that we can handle pain. You’ll learn why motivation fades but evidence of past resilience fuels real discipline. From David Goggins finishing a brutal 100-mile race, to remembering business struggles and personal setbacks we survived, to stacking small wins in the gym and daily habits, the big takeaway is simple: when you feel like quitting, look for evidence that you’ve already done harder things. ⏰ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 The story that explains the Cookie Jar method 00:47 Why motivation isn’t enough 02:40 Evidence vs inspiration 04:20 Building your “cookie jar” of resilience 06:10 Find your anchor story (daily call to action) ✉️ FREE PODCAST SUMMARIES Get a 1-quote summary of every episode: https://fiobros.com/quote 🧘 FREE MEDITATION COURSE Learn to meditate in 5 days, 100% free: https://fiobros.com/meditate 📱 FOLLOW US ON IG https://instagram.com/fiobros

If You’re Going Through a Breakup, Listen To This

If a breakup has ever left you feeling physically sick, emotionally lost, and not feeling like yourself, nothing is wrong with you. You’re grieving. Today, Jay speaks directly to anyone navigating the quiet devastation of heartbreak, reminding them that nothing is “wrong” with them for feeling the way they do. He explains that breakups don’t just hurt emotionally, they activate the same neural pathways as physical pain and withdrawal. What you’re experiencing isn’t weakness or failure; it’s grief. Jay reframes the end of a relationship not simply as losing a person, but as losing a future you imagined, the routines your nervous system depended on, and the version of yourself that existed within that relationship. Jay walks us through the five stages of breakup grief, showing how numbness is a form of protection, why the mind gets stuck in rumination after loss, and how anger can signal the return of self-respect. Rather than rushing to “move on,” he encourages simple practices like building small routines, writing down obsessive thoughts, setting boundaries, and resisting the highlight reel your mind creates that makes you only remember the good. The stages aren’t a straight line, but a map that helps you move through uncertainty with more grace and self-compassion. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Rebuild Your Routine After a Breakup How to Break the Cycle of Rumination How to Express Anger in a Healthy Way How to Set Boundaries That Protect Your Healing How to Move Through Sadness Without Rushing It How to Create Meaning After Loss Be gentle with yourself in this season. Lean on the people who show up for you. Rebuild your routines slowly. One day, this chapter will no longer be the center of your story, it will be the turning point that makes you wiser, stronger, and more secure in who you are. Treating Schizophrenia: Psych Meds vs. Living with Symptoms

In this second episode of our World Schizophrenia Day series, we revisit a controversial debate.Anti-psychotics like Abilify, Risperdal, and Clozapine are often used to help manage a person's symptoms of schizophrenia, including paranoia, delusions and hallucinations. However, there’s a movement that wants to shift mainstream thinking away from using medication to manage the symptoms of a serious mental illness. It encourages people to accept and live with the symptoms of severe mental illness, such as delusions and hallucinations. To help us navigate this hot-button dilemma, we talk to a Look Again recurring guest, Dr. Diane McIntosh, Psychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia.Follow Look Again to listen to insightful conversations like this one that examine the treatment of severe mental illness.
