Speaking on Business: Larry H. Miller Senior Health

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. As Utah’s population ages, expectations around senior care are changing. Families want quality, compassion and continuity they can trust. Joe Walker, President of Larry H. Miller Senior Health, joins us to talk about how they are preparing to meet those needs. Joe Walker: Caring for our patients and residents is more than a service to our company — it’s a responsibility we take seriously. The Baby Boomer generation has reshaped every industry it’s touched, from housing to transportation to lifestyle. Health care is next. As demand grows — access, coordination and commitment matter more than ever. Supported by the Larry H. Miller family and Company, we are building a connected, high-quality continuum where quality care takes place. In Utah, our teams at Aspen Ridge and Pine View Transitional Rehabs, Aspen Ridge Home Health and Hospice and Aspen Ridge Residences of Lehi support recovery, ongoing health needs, and senior living in a seamless way. We’re also in 13 other states, where our patients receive the same five-star care and attention. By aligning clinical excellence with a deeply human approach, we help patients and families feel supported at every stage of life. Learn more at LHMSeniorHealth.com. Derek Miller: Larry H. This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Founded in 1974, the Utah Film Commission promotes the entire state as a destination for film, television and commercial production while supporting the growth of local talent, crews and the broader industry. Director of the Utah Film Commission, Virginia Pearce, joins us with more. Virginia Pearce: At the Utah Film Commission, we promote the state as a premiere destination for production and support our local film industry with incentives and resources. For over a century, Utah has served as the backdrop for iconic films, TV shows and commercials, and the film industry continues to thrive today. We had a milestone year in 2025 with film production generating over 136 million dollars in state, translating into more than 2,600 direct jobs for Utahns and millions spent in local businesses around the state. 39 percent of travelers say films or TV shows influenced their visit to Utah, generating about 600 million dollars annually. That's why we launched the Utah Film Trail where film lovers can discover the real-world locations featured in some of their favorite movies and TV shows. We focus on building a strong creative economy in Utah that inspires the next generation of artists and audiences. Speaking on Business: Junior Achievement of Utah

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Junior Achievement of Utah and Idaho’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy through a variety of programs. Joining us to discuss a new initiative aimed at reimagining high school education nationwide is President and CEO, Christy Tribe. Christy Tribe: When business leaders, educators and Junior Achievement areas unite, high school students gain the tools, confidence and applied insight they need to effectively shape their future. That’s the vision behind 3DE, a new program offered by Junior Achievement. 3DE is an innovative education model redefining how students learn. Through real business challenges, students work in teams to solve authentic problems from actual companies. Along the way, they build durable skills like critical thinking, collaboration, communication and adaptability. We may not know exactly what tomorrow’s jobs will look like, but we do know this: durable skills transfer across roles, industries and careers. 3DE helps students see the relevance of what they’re learning today and how it prepares them for what comes next. We’re excited to bring 3DE to high school students in Utah, connecting education to the real world in meaningful ways. Learn more at ja-utah.org and 3deschools.org. Speaking on Business: Utah Inland Port Authority

This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Utah’s economy depends on strong connections — between communities, infrastructure and global markets. The Utah Inland Port Authority is helping coordinate those connections across the state. Executive Director Ben Hart joins us to share how this work is supporting long-term economic growth. Benjamin Hart: Utah is uniquely positioned as a crossroads for trade in the western United States, and the Utah Inland Port Authority is focused on strengthening that advantage. Our role is to align infrastructure, logistics and economic development tools to support both urban and rural communities across the state. We work in partnership with local governments, private industry and state leaders to plan and invest in critical infrastructure — things like rail connections, road access and utility readiness — that help businesses operate more efficiently and compete in a global market. This coordinated approach not only improves supply chain reliability, but also helps create high-quality jobs and expand economic opportunities in areas that are ready for responsible growth. As Utah continues to grow, our focus remains on ensuring that growth is strategic, sustainable and beneficial for communities statewide. You can learn more about our work at uipa.utah.gov.
