    343. Tricia Gray: From Trauma to Triumph – The Inspiring Story Behind "The Lotus Legacy" Memoir

Content Warning & Disclaimer Please proceed with caution. This episode may be highly triggering for survivors of abuse and trauma. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Tricia Gray grew up as one of four children in Louisiana, raised by a single mother who was trapped in a cycle of abusive relationships. At just five years old, Tricia became her mother’s protector, shielding her through years of violence until into her late teens. Then tragedy struck: her mother was murdered in their own front yard by one of her abusers. Left to save herself, Tricia faced unimaginable pain and adversity. Yet from those darkest days, she forged an extraordinary path of resilience, mental strength, and spiritual growth. Her story is a powerful testament to human endurance and the ability to rise above trauma. In July 2026, Tricia Gray will release her highly anticipated memoir, "The Lotus Legacy". The book details her journey from childhood protector to empowered survivor, sharing the mindset, strategies, and inner work that helped her rebuild her life. In an exclusive interview, Tricia opens up about how she approached life’s challenges and the deeply personal process of writing "The Lotus Legacy." Her story resonates with anyone seeking inspiration to overcome hardship, break generational cycles, and create a meaningful legacy. If Tricia could transform such profound trauma into strength and purpose with so few advantages, it challenges the rest of us to examine our own excuses. Her memoir isn’t just a survival story — it’s a blueprint for anyone ready to stop waiting for perfect conditions and start building a better life. Tricia's website is TriciaNGray.com. Keywords & Themes: childhood trauma survivor, overcoming domestic abuse, single parent family struggles, Louisiana true story, healing from childhood trauma, women’s empowerment memoir, resilience stories 2026. Rereleasing - 219. Anna Astwood - Pt 2 of 2 - Once a Dating Violence Victim. Today, an Active Survivor.

We decided to rerelease this story because it gathered so much attention when it first ran. This is part two of a two-part story with Anna Astwood. Anna is a survivor of teen dating violence. It happened about 25 years ago, but she has lived with it every day since. As a survivor herself of sexual assault and teenage dating violence from the ages of 12 to 18 years old, she knows the pain, the trauma, the guilt of what relationship violence brings. Most importantly, she knows the healing that can take place after trauma. Although not an easy task, Anna explains that by taking the steps to heal and being willing to be vulnerable and authentic with what she has experienced, will bring back the power and peace that was stolen from her many years ago. Listen for warning signs in her story. See how not feeling you can go to your friends or family only makes everything worse. Anna suffered emotional and physical abuse. She had to figure out, on her own, what to do about it: How to cope. How to live. Listen carefully, feel the experience, and learn from this true story from Anna Astwood on the WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast. The "Love Doesn't Hurt" Mission Statement: Love Doesn’t Hurt is a nonprofit dedicated to ending teenage dating violence and supporting those affected through education, empowerment and community support.  You can contact Anna Astwood at this link. Or email Anna: lovedoesnthurtinc@gmail.com.
