Celtic Exchange Weekly: Meet, Greet & Repeat? Will the Celtic Park Showdown Bring Meaningful Change?

After weeks of unrest, various fan groups were finally invited to meet face to face with the club at Celtic Park tonight (Monday, 6 October), to allow all parties to have a long-awaited discussion aimed at finding a way forward following the recent standoff. While the full outcomes of the meeting may take some time to emerge, one thing is clear: the relationship between the club and its supporters must improve - because the status quo quite simply isn't working. On the pitch, a morale-boosting win over Motherwell offered some much-needed positivity and could spark new life into the campaign for several players, including Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Arne Engels, and Daizen Maeda. The international break now gives Brendan Rodgers and his squad the chance to regroup and refocus before setting their sights on reeling in league leaders Hearts. Meanwhile, across the city, Rangers are once again spinning on the managerial merry-go-round, and just a little earlier in the season this time than many expected. 🎙️ Join Tino, James & Paddy as they cover all of this and more in the latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. ====================================== 🔔 Want even more from The Celtic Exchange? Both teams came into the match unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership, and while Motherwell will feel they’d done enough to take something from the game, it was Celtic who found that extra touch of quality when it mattered most to seal a vital victory. There’s no denying that Brendan Rodgers’ side are still short of their best, but as they work to rediscover their top form, the most important thing is to keep winning and, domestically at least, that’s (mostly) what the Bhoys have been doing. Celtic now head into the international break just two points behind league leaders Hearts, setting up a intriguing top-of-the-table clash at the end of the month. 🎙️ Join Tino & Greg as they break down all the key talking points from an eventful afternoon at Celtic Park. Under the lights at a subdued Celtic Park, the team stumbled through yet another European disappointment. We know the Daizen Maeda question still lingers - but are we now also facing a Kasper Schmeichel problem, a Callum McGregor problem… and perhaps more besides? Few players earned pass marks on the night, though Sebastian Tounekti again deserves credit as he continues to look like our main attacking threat. Serious questions must also be asked of the manager. Once more, his side looked unmotivated and uninspired, failing to score for the fifth time this season. Right now, various concerns run through every part of Celtic. The Braga defeat is simply the latest one. 🎙️ Join Tino and Paddy as they dissect another grim European night for Celtic. For Celtic (and Hibs), both columns stayed blank as Brendan Rodgers’ side played out another goalless draw this season. Unsurprisingly, many fans have voiced their frustration at the result. And while it was disappointing not to claim all three points, there are still clear reasons for optimism after this latest outing from a new look Celtic side. Should we have taken some of the clear-cut chances we created? Absolutely. Could the likes of Tounekti, Iheanacho, and Maeda perform at a higher level than they showed on the day? Without question. But the encouraging part is that we are creating chances, and there’s a genuine sense that this team will soon hit the form we know these players are capable of. The concern, however, is that Hearts continue to get the job done elsewhere, and following the latest round of Scottish Premiership results, Celtic now find themselves in the unusual position of looking up at the Edinburgh side sitting top of the table. The Bhoys will need to find another gear quickly - both domestically and in Europe - with another busy week ahead. 🎙️ Join Tino on The Final Whistle Show as Celtic share the points with Hibs on Scottish Premiership Matchday 6. Yes we’re all disappointed at failing to make the Champions League this time round but this tournament is one that offers intrigue and excitement with the genuine possibility of progression IF Celtic make the strides that Rodgers is hoping for from his new look group. For Sebastian Tounekti, Benji Nygren, Colby Donovan and others it’s also a chance to show they can cut it at this level and alongside their teammates they’ll be eager to impress on the European stage. An intimidating home crowd of 50,000+ will be waiting for the players tonight but that in itself is something the manager has encouraged his side to embrace. If we want to rectify some of the damage from the Kairat Almaty result then it all starts here. 🎙️ Join Tino for the Countdown To Kick Off Show as Celtic get set to face Red Star Belgrade in the Rajco Mitic Stadium Learn more about your ad choices.
