What happens when the NBA comes back? (3/31)

What happens when the NBA comes back? (3/31)

Today's word of the day is 'scenario' as in if the NBA comes back this season how does it finish. Could it go straight to the playoffs? Maybe a preseason like I suggested. Where did this idea to have a quarantined village in Vegas or the Bahamas come from (0:06)? MLB will pay minor league players until May 31st. That was just announced today, but what does it mean? There are some pros and cons that need to be discussed (10:15). Juventus players agreed to a 90M euro pay reduction. Let me explain what this means (17:17). So You Wanna Talk To Samson? Someone asked me about a predicament they're currently in. They spent a lot of money on tickets to games, but the teams have not yet cancelled so they can't get their money back - they want to know what I would do as team president and what they should do as the fan (23:11). Review - Gemini Man (28:56). MLBeard Challenge Day 16: Minnesota Twins (32:07). Also, let's have a quick discussion about Dr. James Andrews (the Tommy John man) (35:12). Role playing is fun! No, not that kind, well yea that kind, but also I'm going to role play a phone call between Tom Brady and Buccaneers management. Do you think Tom cares more for the chance at a ring or the money he got? #waittosee

Come for the no-hitter, stay for my Jamie Foxx story (3/30)

Come for the no-hitter, stay for my Jamie Foxx story (3/30)

Today's word of the day is 'appreciation' as in recognize the time we're all living in and appreciate the small things (0:06). Remember that one time.... when Henderson Alvarez pitched a no-hitter in the last game of the 2013 season... well here are some things about that game that you probably didn't know (6:16). Scott Boras needs to just stop talking. Every time he speaks I get a ringing in my ears and I need to decode his 'words' for you, the listener (14:21). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? What can I (you the listener) do to help bring sports back (24:05)? Review - Just Mercy... But before I get to my review let me tell you about my first encounter with Jamie Foxx. It's a story you're going to be want to hear (27:30). MLBeard Challenge Day 13-15: Dodgers, MARLINS, Brewers. The NBA will come back at some point if we all do our part, but when it does come back how will they get to the games (35:22)? Maybe adding another quick preseason will help. #waittosee

MLB/MLBPA reached deal on 2020 season: Here's what to know (3/27)

MLB/MLBPA reached deal on 2020 season: Here's what to know (3/27)

Today's word of the day is 'agreement' as in the MLB and MLBPA reached on on all the details of the 2020 season. We've all been waiting for this. It was released that the owners voted unanimously on this, but that's not really true, and here's why (0:06). The biggest issue was always going to be service time and now we know that Mookie Betts will be a free agent this offseason NO MATTER WHAT. Let's talk a little about salary arbitration and what the means (8:36). Another big obstacle was going to be the MLB draft and it looks like it will still go on... but with a twist! When will the season start? No one knows for sure, but this has to happen first (19:49). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Time to set sails on Carnival cruise ship for a second... not actually... someone asked me why billionaire owner Mickey Arison couldn't just bail out his own company (31:22). Review - Tiger King (38:16)! Remember That One Time...when the Arizona Diamondbacks won the 2001 World Series... well this is what you didn't know about that final Louis Gonzalez at-bat (40:04). MLBeard Challenge Day 11/12: Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Angels (42:23) #waittosee

MLB Opening Day like you've never heard before (3/26)

MLB Opening Day like you've never heard before (3/26)

Today's word of the day is 'hope' because that's what Opening Day is in MLB . It's hope: winning the World Series, making the playoffs, winning today, not finishing in last place. It's all hope (0:06) So You Wanna Talk To Samson! is special today. People wanted to know about some Opening Days I've been apart of. Let's start with my first ever game... Montreal Expos (2:26). Next up is my first game with the then Florida Marlins (9:02). Can't forget about the time we ran out of hot dogs during our home opener (14:20). Opening Day after winning the World Series was a surreal moment (17:00). Ah yes, 2012, the Marlins Park debut with Muhammad Ali (19:48). Does anyone remember the time the Marlins had a rain delay inside a stadium with a roof? I do (28:49). I'll end today with my final home opener in 2017, the first one without Jose Fernandez, and what that meant to me (32:52). I did the same thing every Opening Day for 18 years... here's what it was. #waittosee

Stop listening to Scott Boras (3/25)

Stop listening to Scott Boras (3/25)

Today's word of the day is 'Cole' or 'Coal' as in Scott Boras has Gerrit Cole signed, but Scott Boras deserves a lump of coal for his awful 'plan' for baseball (0:06). Noah Syndergaard needs Tommy John surgery and that's a crushing blow for the Mets. Let's talk about what that means for the team and read into some of the comments that Brodie Van Wagenen made (7:48). NFL GM's want the NFL draft delayed - which I agree with - however, only owners and the league can make that decision (14:17). Clippers owner Steve Ballmer purchased the LA Forum for $400M in cash because he was tired of being the Lakers little brother (21:36). Review - Fearless (this is a big surprise) (25:40). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? What event since Nothing Personal started was the highlight or provided the most content (32:01)? Remember That One Time... when Wilt scored 100 points in a game? Well, here are some other facts about him that people tend to forget (36:35). MLBeard Challenge Day 10: Detroit Tigers (40:03). Today was the 100th episode of Nothing Personal and here's to 100 more. #waittosee

Why did Tom Brady leave the Patriots... MONEY! (3/24)

Why did Tom Brady leave the Patriots... MONEY! (3/24)

Today’s word of the day is ‘grandparents’ as in we shouldn’t ever talk about the sacrifice of life to save the economy (0:06). Tom Brady held his introductory press conference... sorry, his video conference... sorry, his conference call with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he said he made up his mind to leave New England after a sitdown with Robert Kraft... interesting (2:23). Olympics are officially postponed, but I have a major problem with the press release (9:37). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Do you think my “it's just business” mantra to the extreme causes people to lose their compassion for all else except the bottom line (16:22)? The owner of the Sixers and New Jersey Devils, Josh Harris, got absolutely crushed for what he wanted to do with staff payroll. Let me explain what he was trying to do and what he did do (24:45). Review - 21 Bridges (31:50). A not-for-profit for Minor League players was started, what does that mean (35:03)? MLBeard Challenge Day 9: Colorado Rockies (39:24). The Pittsburgh Pirates sent 400 pizzas to hospital workers. I think this will start an avalanche of other teams doing good but... #waittosee
