my expat family

I am a big true crime fan and have listened to all of them, but this podcast gives different perspectives on already known cases and probably heard before but it’s so good and interesting and I always find out stuff I never knew about a case I’ve heard about before- and also just like friends chatting about the cases, it’s great, good voices to listen too, I love posh people who curse! 😂

I used to like this podcast but recently some remarks Suruthi has made have really put me off. She frequently says really off handed things about Muslims that don’t sit right. I’m not fully immersed in the Masih Alinejad-Ilhan Omar feud, but they, with zero context, condemned Ilhan for calling Masih islamophobic. The important context? Masih wrote several articles opposing Ilhan’s bill against Islamophobia. As two non Muslim women, I don’t think they should be weighing in on a political issue they clearly don’t understand. Suruthi also said that Iran invented Islamophobia to prevent people from criticizing their abhorrent human rights abuses. Not sure what she meant by that, because clearly Islamophobia has been rampant since 9/11, but she made no attempt to clarify. They come off as extremely privileged and ignorant but also smug. It’s not a good vibe.
