    Figuring Out How to Bounce Back Post-COVID (Hot Girl Summer)

    Hot girl summer is here and we’re READY! Aside from developing an aux-worthy Spotify playlist, co-hosts Elijah Z and Annie Kay share tips on what they learned from COVID that they’ll take with them into hot girl summer, like slowing down, self-care and letting go of the need to control everything. And while nobody knows for sure what post-COVID life will look like, we share some research from experts on both sides of the spectrum. One side says post-COVID will be similar to the Roaring 20s (1920s) in the sense that we can harness the power of community to continue grassroots activism efforts, and the other saying that post-COVID life will be different from the Roaring 20s psychologically—there was much more loss among young people, which led to more wildness. So, whatever happens, let’s bounce back with compassion for those who may be feeling anxiety or experienced loss, appreciation for some inevitable awkward convos and a whole lot of dancing and hugging!

    Figuring Out How to Unlearn

    You may have gotten some negative sh*t passed down to you. Let’s chat about how to put the brakes on and make a U-turn to break down the origins of our thoughts, attitudes, behaviors, feelings, and biases. Elijah Z and Annie Kay get vulnerable in talking about how they got to rewrite and reframe their stories, specifically when it came down to things family members said and did. They intro the episode by talking about Tara Westover’s memoir, “Educated,” a powerful story of unlearning to ultimately enlarge one’s worldview. Elijah Z and Annie Kay talk about the importance of basing your goals off of your values, aligning with what you love, writing down or verbalizing your goals to others, and defining what success means for you.     Figuring Out Climate Change

    What the hell is climate change and what can we do about this? Elijah Z and Annie Kay both agree the subject can be overwhelming, frightening, or just straight up politicized. They discuss their personal experiences of awareness of climate change issues with Elijah Z coming from the East Coast and Annie Kay coming from the Pacific Northwest.
