Why Heartbreak Renews Us: Dance, Cancer, and Learning to Feel Again | Adam Barley

Can learning about yourself be done not through more thinking, but through moving your body until the truth comes out? In this conversation, I sit down with Adam Barley, a movement and embodiment facilitator who has spent more than three decades helping people access what words alone can't reach. Adam's own path started almost by accident: a friend's book landed in his hands one frustrated Sunday afternoon, and within two hours he'd decided to leave his job and sell his house to follow it. We talk about the shame and repression he carried from a buttoned-up English upbringing, and how dance gave him a way to feel what he was never given permission to say out loud. We also go somewhere much harder. Two years ago, Adam was diagnosed with an aggressive, fast-moving cancer that took him from perfectly healthy to unable to walk in three weeks. He describes the experience through an old, beloved children's story, of finally having something claw through a skin he could never fully shed on his own, and what it actually took to come out the other side changed, not just recovered. This is a conversation about grief, fear, the strange gift of heartbreak, and why healing doesn't have to look like effort at all. Sometimes it looks like shaking, crying, or dancing with no one watching. If you've ever needed permission to move without knowing why, it's time to begin.    Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers/videos Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   Adam Barley Site https://adambarley.com/   Events & Courses New Course Listening in the Dark https://adambarley.com/events/listeninginthedark/ Adult Addict https://adambarley.com/events/adult-addict/

How To Maximise Your Energy | Mikey Breathes

What if you've been taught to see your body as something to control, discipline, and force into shape, when the only thing separating you from radical transformation is learning to listen to it instead? I sit down again with Mikey Breathes, a world traveller, energy teacher, and the creator of The Guide, for a wide-ranging, unfiltered, and often very funny conversation about energy, self-love, and what happens when you stop fighting your own body. We start from China, where Mikey is three months into a stay he describes as the most physically intense place he's ever lived, and use it as a jumping off point into the real subject of the episode: voltage. Not vibration, not manifestation, but literal energy, what generates it, what discharges it, and why so many of us are walking around running on empty without ever asking why. From there we get into self-love, redefined not as indulgence but as self-preservation, and its opposite, which Mikey argues isn't self-hate but self-ignorance. We talk about the difference between discipline and cooperation, about what it actually means to be present with your body rather than at war with it, and about escapism in all its modern forms: doomscrolling, new age spirituality, waiting for disclosure, outsourcing your thinking to AI. Mikey shares the personal story behind his own health journey, and we get into some genuinely big territory: momentum over manifestation, dependency as a loss of power, and what it means to bring life into every interaction you have, rather than waiting for life to happen to you. A note on tone: this one is loose, playful, and frequently ridiculous, but the message is clear - maybe it's time to begin to listen to your boy rather than trying to control it.    Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers/videos Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   Mickey Breathes Socials https://www.instagram.com/mikeybreathes/ The Life Guide https://theguide.life/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio

Your Soul Is Calling - And How To Listen | James Hollis Ph.D

What if the depression you can't explain, the boredom that follows your "success," or the sense that something inside you is protesting isn't a malfunction, but your soul trying to get your attention?   In this conversation, I sit down with James Hollis, Jungian analyst, author of over twenty books, and one of the most respected voices working in psychology today, to talk about what it actually means to live a meaningful life, and why so few of us are ever given permission to try. We open on something deceptively simple: the gap between what the world wants from us and what our own nature is quietly asking of us. James explains why this estrangement is built into being human, shaped by early adaptation, cultural noise, and a nervous system never designed for the volume of stimulus we live inside today.   From there we move into the psyche as a self-repair system, one that will produce depression, addiction, and repetition compulsion not to punish us, but to get our attention. We talk about feelings as autonomous, honest data rather than something we invent, and that meaning is something we're obligated to discern for ourselves, not something a parent, culture, or institution can hand us. James shares his own decision to leave a secure, tenured academic post in his thirties, a choice many around him thought was reckless, and reflects on why honouring what's true for you rarely looks safe from the outside.   This conversation moves through grief, permission, the false self, the narcissistic agendas we all carry, and what Jung meant when he said the greatest burden a child carries is the unlived life of a parent. And it closes somewhere unexpectedly tender, on ageing, mortality, and what James calls the quickening of the spirit.   If you've ever felt a low hum of dissatisfaction beneath an outwardly "successful" life, this will help.   Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers/videos Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   James Hollis Site https://jameshollis.net/ YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@JamesHollisFilms   Books mentioned in this episode Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life https://www.amazon.com/Finding-Meaning-Second-Half-Life/dp/1982683473 What Matters Most: Living a More Considered Life https://www.amazon.com/What-Matters-Most-Living-Considered/dp/1592404200 Swamplands of the Soul: New Life in Dismal Places https://www.amazon.com/Swamplands-STUDIES-JUNGIAN-PSYCHOLOGY-ANALYSTS/dp/0919123740 Autumnal Days: Courage, Integrity, and Ownership of the Soul (forthcoming) https://www.amazon.com/Autumnal-Days-Courage-Integrity-Ownership/dp/1649635028

Why Alignment Is The Key To Everything | Brian Withers

What if life is simply a mirror, and every frustration, delay and setback is showing you exactly what you believe? In this conversation, I sit down once again with Brian Withers, author, life coach and creator of Higher Vibrations Now, for our third conversation together. This time, we move from theory to practice: where action actually fits into manifestation, and real stories of people who have changed their lives by changing their energy. Brian is quick to clarify that he doesn't teach manifestation at all. He teaches alignment, with manifestation as the natural byproduct of the energy flowing from you. From there, we unpack the difference between inspired action and joy action, why we are receivers rather than makers, and how something as ordinary as sitting in traffic can become a conversation with the Law of Attraction. We speak about thought options, the simple but radical idea that we are never obliged to think the thought that arrives first. Brian explains where our thoughts actually come from: generational faulty beliefs, inherited voices passed down from parent to child, running on auto-repeat in the subconscious. That these beliefs, not our genes, are what we truly inherit. We also explore the difference between empathy and compassion, why jumping into the hole with someone helps no one, and the practice Brian calls reparenting: giving ourselves, as adults, the vibrational guidance we never received as children. This is a conversation about energy, patience, momentum, and the stages between wanting a different life and living one. It's about why joy is the currency of abundance, and why the timing of change is different for every single one of us.   Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers/videos Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   Brian Withers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@brianwithers357 Socials https://www.instagram.com/theknowledgeoflife/ Site highervibrationsnow.com

Water Connects Everything & How It Connects You

Water isn't just something we drink when we're thirsty, but a living, conscious element that carries memory, frequency and the history of everything it has ever passed through. In this solo episode, I explore why water may be the most fundamental and most ignored element of vibrant health. Before we can understand water, though, we need to understand consciousness itself. So this episode begins with a wider inquiry into animism, the reductionist worldview we've inherited over the last 150 years, and what the ancients and many Indigenous cultures have always known: that everything is alive, and nothing exists in isolation. We are, quite literally, water. Anywhere from 50 to 70 per cent of the body is water, and molecularly it is by far our most abundant molecule. So it follows that if we want expanded awareness and a body capable of full, authentic expression, the state of the water we take in matters enormously. I share my honest experience with the many waters and devices I've tried over the years: benchtop filters, Berkeys and reverse osmosis, and why I no longer use them. Spring water, why it was once my favourite, and the heartbreaking reason I stopped drinking it. Distilled water, the arguments against it, and why I still drink it. And finally, hydrogen water, the most impactful addition I've made in the last eighteen months, and why I believe it produces such profound results across body, mind and spirit. The body is the instrument through which we express and experience consciousness, and the simplest practice of all, one that costs nothing: bringing gratitude, love and intention to every glass of water before you drink it will make the most significant difference. This is an episode about remembering that water is not out there, separate from us. It is us. And how we treat it is how we treat ourselves.   Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   My Method For Alive Waters Carbon Distillation https://www.megahomewaterdistillers.com.au/ Medical Grade Hydrogen https://holyhydrogen.com/products/lourdes-hydrofix-premium-edition-new-24-grey-model-complete-bundle Quinton Hypertonic https://www.quicksilverscientific.com/products/original-quinton-r-hypertonic-3-3-ampoules Shilajit https://realhimalayanshilajit.com/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21583369198&gbraid=0AAAAA-FwMI0H0mcid3CrhTgbdzssRjc-x MORNING PROCESS 750 ml of distilled water and 1 Quinton vial into the Holy Hydrogen. You Can Change The Past. How To Rewrite Your Story | Jan Engels-Smith

What if the past isn't fixed? What if the moments that wounded you could be revisited, unravelled, and given a new ending? In this conversation, I sit down for the third time with Jan Engels-Smith, shamanic practitioner, teacher, and author, and one of the most generous and grounded voices I know. If you'd like to hear Jan's founding story and the origins of her work, you'll find our earlier conversations linked below. Jan explains that every event is a matrix of energy that stays in motion until it's interrupted, and that through journeying and attention, it's possible to return to the moment something happened, unwind it, retrieve what was lost, and choose a new ending. The healing is instantaneous in the energetic, but it lands on us to bring it through our thoughts, our words, and our behaviour, until the old story no longer runs the show. We speak about blind beliefs, the ones handed to us at birth that we don't even know we're carrying, and the three places they tend to hide: our beliefs about ourselves, about God or Source, and about money. Jan makes the case that belief systems are choices, nothing more, shaped by culture, era, and family, and that if a belief causes you distress, you're free to put it down and choose one that brings you happiness instead. I also share some of my own experience with this work, including the soul retrieval Jan guided me through, and what's changed since: the practice of catching the old patterns, asking "is this even my belief?", and the slow return of self-love that follows when you stop running and simply look. This is a conversation about the past, and our freedom from it. About choice, belief, self-love, and the quiet army of help that's available to every one of us, if we're willing to ask. If you've ever felt trapped by your story, or suspected that the life you're living was authored by beliefs that were never really yours, this one is for you.   Feelings with Strangers YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@FeelingswithStrangers Socials https://www.instagram.com/feelings.with.strangers/   Jan Engels-Smith Site http://www.janengelssmith.com/ Courses https://www.lightsong.net/ Book: Becoming Yourself https://www.amazon.com.au/Becoming-Yourself-Journey-Head-Heart/dp/1500854395 Previous conversations with Jan https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/decoding-reality-how-your-mind-and-heart-create-your/id1737944971?i=1000652799451 https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/shift-your-emotions-shift-your-reality-how-to-create/id1737944971?i=1000667885142

Creating In The Eye Of The Storm | Stephen Jenkinson

There are conversations that seem to happen at the very edge of what language can do. This is one of those. Stephen Jenkinson has spent decades working in what he calls the death trade. Sitting with the dying, bearing witness to the end of life in ways that most of us spend our whole existence carefully avoiding. He wrote about it, spoke about it and then, just over two years ago, he walked into a neurologist's office expecting reassurance, and walked out with a Parkinson's diagnosis, and, as he puts it, never really walked out at all. The man who entered that room didn't survive the encounter. What you are about to hear is what came next. Stephen began writing on the day of his diagnosis, not intentionally, not as a craft, not as therapy, and not for anyone in particular. He wrote because he didn't know what else to do. He wrote the way a person writes when nothing has survived the news. And out of that wreckage came his new book, Trembling Still, a necklace of memory shards, improvised words, and ruptures so acute that even the editing team at his publisher were dumbfounded by what they read. He refused to rehabilitate it. He preserved the dumbfoundedness. Because to clean it up, he said, would have been to tell the wrong story. We speak about what it means when the diagnosis is about your brain, not your liver or your kneecap, but the seat of you. How that forecloses any possibility of distance. How you can get used to anything, and why that realisation is both a mercy and a devastation. About isolation so acute it was almost devilish. About the version of himself that never left the neurologist's office. About hope, and why he remains persuaded that hopefulness and hopelessness have more in common than what separates them. And then, somewhere in the middle of all of this, something extraordinary happens. A conversation about the end of a life becomes a conversation about the quality of attention we bring to whatever life remains. About what it means to abide, even trembling. About whether the skills we develop across a lifetime of doing the work still hold in the moments we cannot afford to waste them. I found Stephen's book laugh-out-loud funny in places, and devastating in others. But the thing that stayed with me longest was something harder to name, a shimmering aliveness underneath the grief. The kind that only comes from someone who is genuinely grappling, in real time, on the page, with what it means to still be here. This is not a conversation about getting better. There is no getting better. But it is, in the most unexpected way, a conversation about what it still means to show up. Come with your full attention.    About Stephen Jenkinson Stephen Jenkinson is a teacher, author, activist, and farmer. He holds a Master's degree in Theology from Harvard University and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto. He is the founder of the Orphan Wisdom School in Tramore, Canada, a teaching and learning house devoted to the skills of deep living and conscious dying.
