Rebellion - Part 2

Children constantly strive to test the boundaries established by their parents. Are those of us who are older still guilty of making these childish decisions, ignoring obedience for our own selfish desires? When truth is more fluid than factual, isn't it time we go back to what we know to be true, instead of trusting our feelings to guide us through life?

Rebellion

Too often we sensationalize and glorify rebellion. We want a hero to win against insurmountable odds because that's how we view life. We want to win at life. But day after day goes by with little adventure and more of the same, so we root for the guy that defies the odds, that defies the authority that must be up to something bad - even if we have no real proof of wrongdoing, or, the wrongdoing is simply living the same life we are. Jesus is often mentioned as a rebel, though in fact, he was a bringer of truth. He sought to illuminate the misperceptions of the law that the Pharisees were trying to force people to live under, seeking to show them that what God wanted was to bring God's kingdom on earth, rather than to raise up a worldly kingdom that would never last. Jesus wanted us to serve others above ourselves, and to put our selfish ways on the back burner. When we choose to ignore God's will, we quickly find ourselves in Rebellion.

The Devil Made Me Do It - Part 3

As a closing episode to the Devil Made Me Do It series, I wanted to address four areas that I believe the devil makes a point of attacking us: Putting God First Self-Image The Children Giving & Living These are all areas that, in our day and age, are wide open terrorities for the enemy to attack us, and if we're not diligent, if we're not in tune with our Creator and Father in Heaven, the enemy can slip right by us and make himself a place to dwell right in the middle of where we are.

The Devil Made Me Do It

The devil is often given more credit and more power than he deserves. By not accepting our responsibilities, our vulnerability, we set ourselves up for his schemes and only when it is too late to do something do we choose to place the blame on him, rather than where it rightfully belongs. The Good news is that we have a perfect Creator who Loves us and has all the answers we need, and we can protect ourselves from the one who seduces our desires and whispers our shame.

The Subtlety of Sin

Sin is everywhere and in everything. But for all the damage it causes, it isn't a bomb drop that announces its presence, but the gentle tapping of a nail. As a Disciple of Jesus we are not called into allowing sin to run rampant with our lives, but to make a wise choice, the right choice, and that takes work. Knowing what sin is - and isn't - allows us to recognize when we are acting as our own worst enemy and how to escape the clutches of something that seems to be popping up everywhere. God gives us a way out - we don't have to face temptation alone. The work of doing the right thing isn't done alone, so long as we know Who the right person is to call.,
