Dr. John Cuddeback — The Intentional Household Dr. John Cuddeback, professor of philosophy at Christendom College since 1997, joins the show to discuss his new book, The Intentional Household: Living as if People Matter (Ignatius Press). From Mission Fields to Music Charts: Seph Schlueter on Faith, Fatherhood & His Breakout Hit – Seph Schlueter – 07/02/2026

From Missionary to Music Charts Sam Halligan sits down with longtime friend Seph Schlueter — Catholic singer-songwriter, worship leader, and founder of Damascus Worship, a ministry of the Damascus Catholic missionary community based in Columbus, Ohio. Seph's breakout single "Counting My Blessings" hit #1 on Christian radio, earned multiple GMA Dove Award nominations, and won the K-LOVE Fan Award for Breakout Single of the Year — Seph was also separately named Christian Music Broadcasters' Breakout Artist of 2024. An Iowa Family Legacy Seph shares a surprising Iowa connection: both of his father's parents were born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa — where they met — giving Seph Hawkeye State roots he didn't expect to bring to a Catholic radio interview. Life as a Missionary — and What It Taught Him Seph opens up about his early years as a missionary with Damascus starting in 2018, the hidden, unglamorous formation behind the scenes, and how that season shaped his understanding of self-gift, drawing on St. John Paul II's teaching that "man discovers himself through a sincere gift of himself." Living with an "Audience of One" The heart of the conversation: what it means to make God the singular priority in life, how that reshapes marriage, fatherhood, and public ministry, and Seph's reflection that we can "have everything but own nothing" when we've truly surrendered our lives to Christ. Catch Him Live: Bash at the Lake Seph is a headlining artist at Bash at the Lake, a free, family-friendly Christian music festival in Clear Lake, Iowa on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The Catholic Morning Show – 07/01/2026

In This Episode Steve Ray on the Precious Blood of Jesus Author, pilgrimage guide, and Catholic convert Steve Ray — known to listeners as "Jerusalem Jones" — joins the show for his monthly visit to explain July's devotion to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, observed on its feast day, July 1. Steve traces the biblical theology of blood sacrifice from the Passover lamb through Peter's first epistle to the Lamb standing on the altar in Revelation 5, and explains how the ransom Christ paid with His own blood connects to the Eucharist today. Steve also shares happy family news: he and his wife Janet recently became great-grandparents to a baby girl, Filomena Maria. Farewell to Fr. Daniel Adjei After ten and a half years in the United States — the last several serving parishes throughout the Diocese of Des Moines, including St. Francis, St. Joseph, St. Teresa, St. Pius X, and St. Catherine's — Fr. Daniel Adjei sits down to reflect on his ministry before returning to his home diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi in Ghana. He shares his journey from graduate studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh to pastoral work in Iowa, and offers a heartfelt word of thanks and blessing to the parishioners who welcomed him. The Blood That Ransomed Us: Steve Ray on the July Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus – Steve Ray – 07/01/2026

Steve Ray — author, pilgrimage guide, and host of Defenders of the Catholic Faith — joins Bo Bonner for his recurring monthly segment, this time on the Church's July devotion to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, whose feast falls on July 1. Steve explains how the devotion, formally established for the universal Church by Pope Pius IX in 1849, connects the Old Testament's Passover sacrifice to the New Testament's teaching on Christ as the once-for-all Lamb of God. Highlights from the conversation: Why "the life is in the blood" (Leviticus 17:11) grounds the entire biblical theology of sacrifice How 1 Peter's language of being "ransomed" with the precious blood of Christ echoes the ancient slave market A walk through Revelation 5's vision of the Lamb standing, though slain, on the heavenly altar Practical ways to observe the devotion this month, including Scripture study (Lectio Divina) and a deeper Eucharistic focus Steve's happy family news: he and his wife Janet recently welcomed their first great-grandchild, Filomena Maria Steve also mentioned a forthcoming book on the history of blood sacrifice by his friend Fr. Dwight Longenecker, expected to publish later this year, and an upcoming pilgrimage to Our Lady of Knock in Ireland. Learn more about Steve's ministry at catholicconvert.com. A Decade of Service: Fr. Daniel Adjei's Farewell Before Returning Home to Ghana – Fr. Daniel Adjei – 07/01/2026

Fr. Daniel Adjei has served the Diocese of Des Moines since 2022, ministering at St. Francis, St. Joseph, and St. Teresa, followed by a temporary appointment at St. Pius X (2023–2025) and, most recently, St. Catherine's. Originally from the Sekondi-Takoradi diocese in Ghana, Fr. Daniel came to the U.S. in 2015 to pursue graduate studies in systematic theology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where a parish's request to extend his stay ultimately led him to a pastoral assignment — and eventually to Iowa. In this conversation, Fr. Daniel talks about: Arriving in the U.S. during winter and adjusting to a new culture and climate His path from Duquesne University to the Diocese of Des Moines, and his gratitude to Bishop William Joensen for welcoming him into the diocese Memorable moments at the Iowa State Fair and life among his parish communities His parting blessing to the parishioners of St. Francis, St. Joseph, St. Teresa, St. Pius X, and St. Catherine's as he returns to serve his home diocese in Ghana Listen Live The Catholic Morning Show airs weekdays at 7 AM Central on the Catholic Radio Network — on IowaCatholicRadio.com or the Iowa Catholic Radio app. #CatholicPriest #DioceseOfDesMoines #GhanaCatholic #CatholicVocations #CatholicRadio #CatholicPodcast #MissionaryPriest Credits: Produced, Edited, and Mixed by Ayden Pugh, Alexia Baker, and Brady Grimm.   LINKS You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube!
