Thank you for your show. I listen to you from France. I just figured out how to write a review here. Here is a little history of psychiatry, which might help some to understand something about wacko conspiracy theories. Many people who come up with conspiracy theories have delusions. They are not trying to make money (although that might be an element in some cases where megalomania is a part of the construct. ).They have deeply rooted certitudes. This certitude is often so convincing that they can bring others along for the ride. Back in the day, these were often recognized as forms of mental illnesses known as paranoia. Paranoia in this sense is not simply fear; it’s a kind of psychotic construction, or delirium. In paranoia, these are generally well constructed. People who have them are defending themselves, in a way. This defense is known as projection. Of course these are elements that you have talked about on your show, but I thought the mechanism of this conspiracy theories might interest you. You spoke of several people who seem to the general public like “nuts”. But more than that; each time it seemed that the person in question had some sort of fear of homosexuality. And at least for one, the construction seemed to be built around a defense from
the idea that they might be homosexual! Fascinating!
