“Award-winning true crime podcasters Suruthi Bala and Hannah Maguire met at a party, had a few drinks and decided to start a show. “Neither of us came from audio or journalism—we just knew there was something missing in the true crime space,” they say. “We wanted to tell stories that were well-researched, nuanced and analytical, but still had personality. We didn’t expect it to snowball like it did, but it turns out a lot of people enjoy morally complex stories and a healthy dose of sarcasm.”

Indeed, the duo soon found a huge community of listeners who are “just as curious about the dark side of humanity”. And it’s a community that was quick to pick the duo as their winner of the Listeners’ Choice Award at the British Podcast Awards—not once, not twice, but three years in a row.
