Kevin Twomey & PJ Kirby Galang Help Us Laugh Through It

When Kevin Twomey and PJ Kirby launched I’m Grand Mam from their kitchen table, they never imagined it would grow into a global community of listeners. What began as a bit of fun has become one of podcasting’s most joyful spaces, built around friendship, humour and the shared experience of growing up gay in Ireland.

“More than anything, we love making people laugh,” they say. For Kevin and PJ, that’s always been at the heart of the show. They believe in the power of laughter to get people through difficult times and are continually moved by listeners who share stories about how the podcast helped them through a rough patch or provided a welcome bit of comfort.

Over the years, both hosts have grown alongside the show. “The frontal lobes have fully developed, baby!” they joke. As their confidence has grown, so too has their willingness to embrace the stories and perspectives that make the podcast uniquely theirs. From recording at home to performing for thousands at the Electric Picnic festival, they’ve remained committed to creating a space where listeners feel connected, understood and entertained.

When they’re listening, Kevin and PJ enjoy shows including So True with Caleb Hearon, Las Culturistas, Young Hot Guys and VERY DELTA.
